I recently stayed at this property, and while the rooms were clean and nice, there are several drawbacks that potential guests should know before booking. The policy forbidding outside food and drinks seems aimed at pushing you to spend more at the on-site restaurant and bars, which limits flexibility, and the beers at the bar were consistently hot, dampening moments by the pool or beach. There’s no fridge or microwave in the rooms, making it harder to store snacks or leftovers purchased at their restaurant, though the reception will microwave for you upon request. One of our beds was noticeably squeaky, affecting comfort at night. Power outages are frequent, and when the power goes out the credit card machine goes down as well, complicating payments so be sure to have cash if you don't want to wait for the power to come back on. Upon arrival, guests are handed a room key with little explanation or orientation about amenities, hours, or procedures, so you end up figuring things out as you go. Beach access is great; however, there are no on-site seating or beach chairs provided. Towels were insufficient for a 4-person room, with only two towels provided. On the plus side, the rooms were clean, the food was great, customer service was amazing, the beach was decent, and the pool was nice. Overall, this property delivers a clean, tasty, and pleasant pool/beach vibe, but the frequent power issues, restrictive policies, and gaps in room amenities can significantly impact comfort and convenience for...
Read moreThe Christopher Columbus Hotel and beach resort is tucked away in a sleepy fishing town of Trujillo, Honduras. Nestled along the Carribean coast secured within in the same harbour that afforded the Historical explorer Christopher Columbus's ships the same protection. This destination place offers some of the best fishing, swimming, and local cuisine in all of Central America. And here's the beauty of it, No one knows about it! Except of course me, Joseph Lazarus, Traveller extraordinaire. ||||Right now, Christopher Columbus mostly caters to locals who come to enjoy all that Truijillo has to offer, particularly during Semana Santa. That means you can pay non-tourists prices. Not only that you'll be able to walk to the town, which is super safe and explorer the old Spanish Fort, see the old catholic church and dance the night away at Corals. Then walk back to your hotel on the way grab a baleada made fresh in the street. ||||The staff at the hotel are super sweet. The owner are amazing folks as well. During our stay, we got invited to their 50th Wedding anniversary. They welcomed us a family. Truly an amazing experience...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for a week while I was on a medical mission trip to Guadalupe Carney, Honduras. While the decor is a bit dated, there was much to be very pleased about. Our room was very clean and most importantly, the air conditioning in our room worked very well. The hotel is a waterfront property. The beach itself is rather small, but it was clean and well kept. The hotel also has a pool which I did not use, but it too looked quite satisfactory. The food was OK and since this was my first visit to Honduras, I really didn't have anything to compare it to. The hotel does have free wifi and it worked fine for me. However, I did hear other hotel guests complaining that their rooms were in a section where it was not possible to connect to the hotel wifi network. I'm not sure whether this was a temporary situation or whether this is a chronic issue.|All in all, I enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate staying at this...
