I stayed in the hotel for one week for a business trip. The location is nice. It is a quite and cute town with a few nice restaurants close to the City Centre. There is a nice park right next to the hotel. The first evening when I arrived I asked to change the room, because the bathroom only had a bath tube. Generally not a problem but there was no possibility to fix the shower head somewhere on the wall. There seem to be only rooms with other cost categories available for additional 20€/night. As I was not willing to change paying on top, another room was offered so I could change the next day. Thanks for that. My room was in the part of the building which does not have an elevator, which is a pity as carrying a heavy suitcase up and down quite a few stairs to the 2nd floor without support offered was a big challenge. The pool and restaurant area were being renovated, which is nice because the hotel needs a refurbishment. Therefore only breakfast, no lunch or dinner were offered. Breakfast has enough variety to choose, baked and sweet stuff, eggs, sausages, veggies, fruits, milk, juices, cornflakes. Black coffee was offered in a coffee machine for any more fancy coffee options, it could be ordered but must be paid extra. A variety of teabags was offered, but the industrial water cooker was not switched on for 2 days, so at some point I did it in my own. What I missed was fresh drinking water, at the breakfast as well as at the room. While checking out, I required an invoice with the company address, which was not possible, as they needed a VAT number of the company. I’m traveling now for almost 7 years for business and never ever had the issue of requiring a VAT number to have the company address added on the invoice. I was requested to call someone or search in the internet to find out the VAT number. 1* rating is due to the service, other than that it was a nice stay in an...
Read moreI have been there twice each time for one week and I love the place, service is very good. They respond to request as fast as possible. Rooms are relatively spacious with sufficient facilities and comfort. I didn’t like the beds; they’re not that comfortable. Housekeeping is amazing and they leave the room really spotless. Laundry service is too slow where you have to arrange for it and you receive it almost one day later with no possibility for faster one.|Restaurant is providing surprisingly delicious food with relatively large portions (I’ve warned you). Waiters are polite as well and though they don’t speak good English but still they try to understand you as much as possible and I’d recommend that you ask them for someone who speaks better English (usually the receptionist) to avoid confusion. The menu is in four languages (Hungarian, English, Deutsch and Italian)|We held a team dinner there and we were all happy.|When it comes to wellness and spa it was good, I’d say, and stays open till 22:00 and sometimes they just let you enjoy few more minutes later than that. Visiting the spa and wellness is included in your room rate.|Comment is that the whole thing is located at the basement with no sunlight going in and that the infra red room doesn’t operate properly. I’d recommend as well to have usage instructions there.|Location of the hotel is pretty close to centrum and a nice supermarket if you want to source something from the outside.|I was amazed that at 3:00 the receptionist responded to my request for bottles of water.|I’d recommend this as a very good hotel in that area and you...
Read moreMunkácsy is a lovely, modern, clean hotel with parking (for free). The room is clean and nice, except that there was no decoration (no pictures) but everything was modern and functional, quite comfortable. Except the bed. It was VERY hard and I could not sleep at all. As we had a suite, I tried the sofa in the living room, but it was just as hard as the bed. That put a damper on my experience. The restaurant had some really nice dishes. As a severely lactose intolerant person, I particularly appreciated the indication of lactose on the menu. What I was less impressed with, however, is that I could not eat hardly anything on the menu. There was one appetizer and one main dish I could choose (if I liked them) and no dessert. That is hardly a choice... The waitress had an attitude, so I did not press the issue with her. If beds would improve, I would be happy to go back and would gladly recommend Munkacsy to others. But for now, I am...
