It was my first time at Yacht Club.
Club is located on the coast. It has private marina, pier, and access to private beach. It is far away from the Tihany noise. Very quite and calm place. If you need to rest from the noise of the big city then that is the place.
The area of the club is clean, but honestly could be better. Buildings from the outside looks very old, however they are quite good inside.
I have picked renovated room for two. Unfortunately traces of use were clearly visible (dirty walls). Rooms were also not super clean. The main area was good, but there were spiders and nets in the corners, and on the balcony. Bathroom was clean though.
When it comes to the food, breakfasts were always the same. There were few things to choose from, could be done better. Dinners though were very good. Everyday there were few different meals and a buffet. I have read plenty of bad opinions about dinners here, which are not true.
It was also possible to pick something from the menu for lunch.
Employees were very nice and helpful. More of them could know English though.
To summarize, nice place to stay, but few...
Read moreAn excellent value for money on Lake Balaton. -The rooms are nice with working air-conditioning and no mosquitos. Showers have good water pressure. -The half board of breakfast and dinner is convenient. The lunch requires reservations to be able to order from a menu (but not for pizza). There is a hotel next door if something other than pizza is desired. The menu at the Tihany Yacht club is Asian fusion with very good food. -The lawn is good for lazing around and is not crowded like neighboring hotels. -Electric car drivers: you can charge your car with an outside 220v household plug. -The sunsets are spectacular with beautiful purples and reds. -There is a SUP, windsurfing, and sailing school next to the hotel with friendly owners that speak English and local prices. -The staff is very accommodating for strange requests with excellent English. Overall an excellent one week stay in August and would recommend this small quaint hotel over its much larger neighbor with the Russian style block architecture and its hordes...
Read moreWe booked a larger, more expensive room in the renovated building, but just one day before our arrival I got an email (should have been a call, in my opinion), that our room is not available after all. They offerED a different room in the non-renovated building for 30% off. I guess that just would be the normal price of that room. I feel like they waited until the last minute to inform us, since at that point it was almost impossible to find a different accommodation at Balaton, so they expected us to accept the "discounted" room rather than cancel our vacation. Fortunately we were able to book a room in the hotel next door, so the vacation was saved, but it was a really unpleasant experience and we won't try booking at the...
