I wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t start with the pros first. The rooms are spacious, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is plenty. However…. The reception is also the bar, so new guests have to wait quite a while sometimes. The hotel hosts events, we were kept awake by drunken roar up until 2 am on a Wednesday. The rooms are non smoking, but the smoking area was directly below our window. Had to keep the window shut. We specifically called them before booking to ask if they had private parking and they said yes. What they have is 4 spots reserved for the hotel from the public parking and they cost an extra 2500Huf (about 6 euros) a day to use. Same the other public car park spots in the area. The furniture starts to show signs of ageing, not too bad though. The tv is slightly bigger than a tablet, but we didn’t go tv watching anyways so that is not really important. The room wasn’t dirty but the cleaning is not thorough. Toilet wasn’t cleaned properly, carpet wasn’t hoovered well enough either. But the absolutely worst of all was the bed. The mattress should have been changed many years ago. It is rock hard on the centre, soft and collapsed around the edges. Huge hump on the middle. Pillows also collapsed flat, no cushioning. Back breaking. Woke up every morning tired from continuous turning and twisting and with a severe back and shoulderache. Without this I’d give 3 or 4. But that is unacceptable. Completely ruined our...
Read moreThe place itself was nice, modern and clean but actually I didn't really feel welcomed. Received an email a few days beforehand saying the wellness part isn't available, only the sauna worked (we came from London and booked here especially for the wellness). When we asked if this affects the price, we've been told they can't do anything about it but we received two tickets to the bath nearby which was not fully operating either (worth around €10 altogether, redeemable only while we stayed). Obviously we weren't prepared for a beach day, so we should have bought or rent towels there(?), etc. Also robes weren't prepared for us so we rather just skipped the whole wellness thing. There was only one morning, when everybody was kind and smiley but it felt like it wasn't for us, rather like somebody important was there. Otherwise the whole hotel was very quiet and empty (we've been there in February so a bit understandable but it just felt so uncomfortable). We ended up paying for the full wellness experience and getting a standard room, where we've been disturbed in one morning by the cleaning staff opening our door and shouting in hello...
Read moreI have just spent a week in this centrally-located hotel for the third time in seven years and though the front-of-house staff and service are adequate, the state of the hotel itself has badly deteriorated.||The carpet in the room is still the same as when I first stayed here. Then, it looked clean and vibrant, whereas now it is stained and dirty. The shower in the spacious-enough bathroom needed attention, as did the toilet cistern. The bedroom walls also badly need a coat of paint.||The bed however was comfortable, the air-conditioning/heating worked perfectly, the breakfasts were always more than adequate, and the staff always welcoming and smiling.||Altogether, what had been a pleasantly decorated, mid-century-modern themed hotel six or seven years ago, is now a faded, neglected and soiled version of its previous self. I big disappointment that could be saved by a minimal amount of sprucing up and...
