We had a pleasant overnight stay at this small privately run guesthouse in the new part of Szentendre. It is located just off the main road, a good half hour walk from the old town, but is set far enough back that it is very quiet. The walk to the old town is along the main road but you can either drive part of the way and park your car for free at the Spar supermarket and then walk another 10 minutes or so, or drive all the way and park in a paid car park (free after 8 PM).||The interiors are slightly old-fashioned but charming with antique style furniture. The room was spacious and comfortable and although it was not that modern, everything was well maintained and clean. We also appreciated the private parking area on the premises which was an important consideration for us. ||Breakfast was decent - a selection of yoghurt, juice, cheeses, charcuterie and some warm cooked items like omelette and pancakes filled with fruit and poppyseed which were delicious. The coffee was extremely good. ||The owner was very attentive and we are extremely grateful to him for sorting out with a major issue for us, when we accidentally left our passports, keys and some other valuables behind in the room. We didn’t realise until we were already back in Vienna so couldn’t return to collect them. The owner very kindly had them sent to us and paid for the costs upfront, later charging our credit card for reimbursement. That was a complete life saver and we cannot...
Read moreWe stayed at Panzio 100 for 3 nights, and found the major snag right at the outset, it is 40 minutes walk from the tourist area/old town. If you have your own transport there is no problem, but we came by public transport. The facilities are fine for a B&B, rooms spacious and clean, but strangely no spare electric sockets in our room. The owner never mentioned the sauna/fitness room or the jacuzzi and we only stumbled upon the room (which may or not have a jacuzzi) next to the breakfast room on the 2nd day. So no real grumbles except that being small (7-8 bedrooms) there was no "buzz" or atmosphere. ||Breakfasts were fine without a great choice but the helper cooked me an omelette on days 2 & 3 which made up for a shaky start on day 1 when she didn't detect our presence for some time.||If you can't be bothered with the walk, there is a nice restaurant 5 minutes walk (turn left at the main road and it's over the road at about 100 metres) which has views over the Danube. ||One good thing about being next to the main road is that there are good bus links to Budapest (Arpad Hid terminus) and Visegrad and Estergom, so you can get about very cheaply. Panzio 100 is the last bus stop in Szentendre as you leave on the road to Visegrad. The stop is called "sziget...
Read moreWe dpotted their sign on Donau radweg. We are 4 people cycling the length of the Donau and have stayed at different accommodations every night. We didnt mind that it was 3 km from town because we were planning on dpending time in town next day. Another couple who was staying there for a week had car but commuted by bus (conveniently located no more than 50 m from here)to Budapest and other sights they wanted to see. Very sensable. The lovely owners made us feel at home. We cebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and we were encouraged to use the lovely piano room downstairs. We popped the champagne there, cosy as can be. A great restaurant a few hundred meter down the street served delicious Hungarian fare. ||||The two drawbacks could be the insufficient hot water for 4 people to take shower at once, and ||||if you need to be in the thick of the happenings, and taking bus is to cumbersome, this is not the place for you. ||||We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.||||Breakfast of crepes, omelets, delicious cold cuts cheese and wonderful coffee was served with a smile by the man...
