This was a surprise early spring offer which my wife and I took up. From the beginning (the email backed up by the telephone call) through to the arrival (bottle of wine in the hotel room) and half-board stay the staff were kind and helpful. Rather than going through the menu we were recommended a supper and not disappointed on either occasion. It took us some time to enjoy the wine-tasting, as some extremely drunken youths turned up just as we were about to enjoy our first glass, and we felt it easier and pleasanter to leave and return later. ||We received our own room key and another to the back of the hotel which allowed us to access the car park without going through the restaurant. Unfortunately, it being a very dark night and the path not being lit up, I fell over an invisible step, rose, and proceeded to fall again on a second step. I still have the scar as it took quite a lot of skin off. I mentioned this to the staff and trust that future guests will find the way appropriately lit up, as it really was the only shortcoming of the venue... apart from having to wrestle with the room key in...
Read moreThis place is just so lovely! One of my friends lives in this beautiful town and recomended we have lunch here and eversince then I have to come back at least once a year! The food is amazing, the hotel on top of the restaurant has been recently renovated and is gorgeous! I love that each room is named after a wine (I recomend staying in the Rizling room, where you can see the lake Balaton from the terrace). The whole place is a very cool mixture of tradition and modern minimalism. The rooms are airconditioned, the beds are very comfortable and the location is breath taking. Try the Fata wines (it’s owned by them) and if you like sweeter ones, give the “bodza bor” a spin!
The lake balaton is just a 15-20 minute walk away, the wine cellars are everywhere and the Nemeth Pince is exceptional, try the “Ambrozia” dessert wine. If you like dry wine more and would like a nice panorama, visit the Laposa wine yard which is also nearby or if you would like to see a real local farmers market, go to Kaptalantot to...
Read moregreat surprise in badacsony area, nice traditional atmosphere indoors and more modern outdoors, big wine list with great choice by glass wine. Chocolate almond mouse with paprika pure on top, why not? definitely something new... great service was definitely add on to...
