Would definitely recommend staying at Arctic Wind! This the perfect place if you’re looking for a more lower cost option then staying at a hotel in Rekjyavík. The prices are very good in comparison to the usual cost of accommodations in Iceland during the summer. It’s conveniently located 15 mins from the airport, so it’s a great place to stay the night before an early flight. It’s also around a 40 minute drive to Reykjavík, so getting to the city is very easy. (It’s also very close the Blue Lagoon 15 min drive) The town where it’s located in is very quiet and small, so it’s a much better place to stay then in Rekjyavík if you don’t like the city environment. The 4 people family room was cozy, spacious and very clean. It had a fridge to store groceries, (eating out in Iceland is expensive so buying some Skyr or food at the grocery store is a good way to save money) table and chairs to sit and eat, and two queen sized beds. There is also a shared kitchen where you can cook meals and eat. (which is nice if you want to save money by not eating out) They also do offer breakfast for purchase. The owner Monica is a very nice person and super welcoming. We enjoyed spending time with her chit chatting. If we ever return to Iceland we would definitely stay again at Arctic Wind.

This was such a great place to stay, we took our Trip in February 2023 and everything they advertised was true. You truly can see the Northern Lights from the hotel and only a short drive up the road down Route 43 you can be in a dark zone where you can see the lights even better for free. We didn't use the breakfast service or dinner that they offered so I can't speak to that but if I did this trip again I would opt-in for it for convenience as there is nowhere truly close for food unless you don't mind a short drive to Keflavik or the main city. The room is completely cozy and has everything you need and there is also a kitchen with most of what you need. Owner met us on site the day we moved in and gave us a tour or the building. 5/5 stars I would come back here again, no doubt.

Very nice little motel! It is on a commercial area so I was a little spooked at first, lots of boat or car repair shops but the motel itself felt nice and safe and warm at least in April. There’s a few rooms and a comunal kitchen with many supplies to share, seems like people also leave food they couldn’t eat and you can grab some.

The chemical fragrance in the linens was having an extremely negative effect on my wife’s health. We called Booking.com (as instructed) and spoke with a customer service representative quite early in the morning of September 8 about the problems with the accommodations. We cancelled the remaining five nights of our planned stay due to my wife’s negative reactions to the odor in the room, specifically September 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. The Booking.com customer service representative apologized for the health issue and said that a refund should not be a problem, although it would take some time to process. We received an email from Booking.com the morning of September 8, after our phone conversation with them, confirming our cancellation of five nights and again apologizing for the problem with the intense chemical fragrance in all of the linens. We packed up and got out of there fairly early in the morning of September 8. Again, we did not see the owners, and with the amount of distress my wife was experiencing from the nasty chemical fragrance of the linens in the room, our one and only focus at that moment in time was to get out of there. Not to mention we had to find another place to stay.||We patiently waited to hear back from either Booking.com or the Motel Arctic Wind. After a month of not hearing anything, we called Booking.com on October 9, 2025. After explaining the purpose of our call, the customer service representative was able to see that our call to them on September 8, 2025, was logged into their system, and their attempt to contact the Motel Arctic Wind that day was also logged into their system. However, the customer service rep from Booking.com told us during the October 9 phone call that they never received a reply from the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind. It seems the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind decided to ignore our problem. During our call on October 9, the Booking.com customer service rep put our call on hold (after getting our permission) while he called the Motel Arctic Wind. When the customer service representative got back on the line with us, he said that we needed to contact the Motel Arctic Wind to discuss our issue. We do not believe it is our responsibility to call Iceland to talk with the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind. All of our communication was through Booking.com. Apparently the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind refuses to call us, so the customer service representative from Booking.com told us to post a review so the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind could respond. That is the reason for this long review. We also are posting this review to warn travelers that the Motel Arctic Wind and Booking.com seem to be more interested in pointing fingers at each other than they are in providing good customer service. As a result, we strongly suggest that people avoid using Booking.com or staying at the Motel Arctic Wind. If either (or both of them) work to reach a satisfactory solution to our issue, we will gladly revise this review.||Other issues we had with the accommodations at Motel Arctic Wind:|An email we received from Booking.com on August 30, 2025, at 7:31 a.m. stated, “There is a grocery store 100 meters from the motel open from 11:00 - 19:00.” The "grocery store" was actually a very tiny convenience store at a gas station, with limited offerings and higher prices than an actual grocery store.||The WI-FI signal was very weak in our room. We had to go to the kitchen to use the internet.||Our room was TINY -- much smaller than it appeared online. (The picture online is of a larger room, very misleading.) We had to formulate an incredibly strategic plan to figure out where to put our luggage so we could even move around the room at all (it still involved climbing...
