The Nandakam Rest House in Tirumala is a great choice for pilgrims visiting the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. Its prime location makes it super convenient, especially after completing your darshan (holy visit). Here's why:
Walkable Distance: Located on. Papvinasam Road, Nandakam is just a short walk from the Vengamamba Satram side of the temple complex, perfect for a post-darshan.
Both Sri Mathusri Vakkhula Devi Rest House and Nandakam Rest house are located adjacent to each other with similar building structure.
Nandakam boasts ample parking space, a major plus considering the constant flow of visitors in Tirumala. You'll find parking spots in the basement, front, and back of the building.
The rest house also houses with a "mini kalyana katta" (head trouncing hall) that opens as early as 5:00 AM! This can be a lifesaver if you have an early morning puja or ceremony planned. The kalyana katta usually operates until 8:00 PM in the evening.
Now, talking about the rooms themselves Spacious & Can Accommodate Large Groups - The rooms at Nandakam are large and airy, easily accommodating 6-7 people. Perfect for families or groups traveling together!
Extra Bedding & Amenities (on request): While the room typically comes with two king-sized beds, extra mattresses, blankets, and pillows are available upon request and payment of a small fee.
Each room features a bathroom with both an Indian and a western commode, along with a semi-closed area for washing up and changing. Non-AC Rooms with Essential Comforts
While the rooms are non-AC, they do come with a 24-hour supply of cool water, making your stay comfortable even in Tirumala's warm climate.
For those who don't want to venture out for meals, Nandakam has a convenient restaurant downstairs. Here, you can find everything from tea, coffee, and milk to a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. This makes grabbing a quick bite easy, no matter the time of day.
Rooms at Nandakam are allotted through the Central Reservation Office (CRO) via online reservation on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam website. Once you have your online reservation, simply present your ticket at the reception to receive your room key.
Rooms are typically allotted for a 24-hour period, with the option to extend for an additional 24 hours (total of 48 hours).
Extended Stays: In some cases, with a valid reason (like needing more time for darshan), you might be able to extend your stay for a third day (72 hours) at double the room rate. The additional charge is typically around ₹2,000, with a refund of ₹1,000 being issued within a week of...
Read moreDuring my recent pilgrimage to Tirumala, I stayed at the Nandakam Rest House, managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Located approximately 1.4 K meters from the Sri Venkateswara Temple, it’s a convenient 5-10 minute walk to the main shrine.
Accommodation
I booked a non-AC room priced at ₹1,000 per day. The room was spacious and clean, featuring one king size bed with provided blankets. The attached bathroom was well-maintained, offering both Western and Indian-style toilets. Amenities included hot water, lift access, and wheelchair accessibility.
Facilities
A notable feature is the on-site Kalyanakatta (hair tonsure facility) on the ground floor, allowing devotees to perform the hair offering ritual without leaving the premises. Additionally, the rest house is situated behind the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Free Meal Complex (Anna Prasadam Complex), making it convenient to partake in the complimentary meals provided by TTD.
Overall Experience
The Nandakam Rest House was comfortable and spiritually fulfilling. The combination of its proximity to the temple, well-maintained facilities, and thoughtful amenities makes it an excellent choice ( if you allotted this ) for pilgrims...
Read moreVery poor administration. The time room is allotted to u is counted as check in time. The allotment centers are fixed areas though many available at all places but I had to go to MBC 34 which is at another edge of the hill from the bus stand where we got dropped early in the morning. We were 4 adults, 2 of us were 60+ along with baby and a kid. We requested for two rooms but the employee was so rude to give us the allotted room as if hes giving room from his own house. U among all as TTD staff have to be very courteous and helpful to all pilgrims from whom u get salary. We checked into room at 1030am and no where we were told that the time room allotted is noted as the initial time for 24 hrs check out scheme. Next day we went down to check out n the staff were adamant on treating it as 24hrs n insisted we pay another day's rent too. They absorbed my caution deposit money with such idiotic rules which they dont inform or alteast intimate the next morning that ur room has to be vacated by the allotted time. This feels like u r being robbed off. Hope Management sees such complaints n takes action on this. Orelse dont forget u r working in a divine service, u will take its toll...
