Keerong Cottages — Hotel in Dongkya Range

Great We, a family of nine, had a memorable trip to Gangtok and Nathula Pass from April 9-13, 2025. April marked the beginning of the tourist season in Gangtok, and our timing was perfect. During our visit, we had a stay at Keerong Cottages.

The cottages provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a lovely restaurant that served delicious food. The buffet spread offered a variety of options, including both veg and non-veg dishes, which were clean and tasty. The staff were attentive and ensured our needs were met.

Our rooms were cozy, with electric heating arrangements under the mattresses to keep us warm. We had 4 rooms, two on the ground floor and two upstairs with a balcony offering breathtaking views of the mountains, waterfalls, and snow.Hence if you're able to climb stairs, opt for upstairs rooms with a balcony.

The natural beauty was mesmerizing, making it difficult to tear ourselves away.

The hosts, a middle-aged couple, were well-behaved and ensured we had a comfortable stay. We spent our days exploring nearby sites, and enjoyed the scenic views.

We had to check out after lunch, but everyone in our family wished we could have stayed longer. The experience at Keerong Cottages was truly unforgettable, and we felt privileged to witness such picturesque landscape.

*Power supply - No backup:- During our stay, we experienced an unexpected inconvenience when the power supply was interrupted around 4 am. This resulted in the loss of heating support and hot water supply, rendering the hot water in the bathroom unfunctional. I suggest to install, a power...

This is one of those places which looks good but the stay experience was poor.

A bunch of untrained and unprofessional staff who challenge back with confidence when there is a mistake at their end. Post our checkin we were give the two rooms in the ground floor.

What Was Bad ➡️ The beddings and furnishings were dirty and felt was not changed after previous checkout.

➡️ The TV did not work and they just changed the battery, no regular channels only a few local channels available. Moreover the TV was faulty.

➡️ Area outside is very messy, which does not let you walk also in the campus properly.

➡️ Food was of poor quality and taste. This trip was 15 days long and this was the only place with food that did not impress me.

➡️ Water provided in the jug too was not clean and had hair into it.

➡️ The bathroom door does not close properly. Its so hard that one will hurt their hand while closing.

➡️ They have not removed the plastic cover from the matress which just makes irritating sound all night. A mattress protector can be used if needed.

➡️ Anyone can come inside your room from the ground store windows. So families and couples be careful when you select the ground floor room.

What Is Good ➡️ The location of this place is amazing.

➡️ Look and feel is good too.

➡️ We liked the tea.

Whatever be the pros and cons any place with poor service hospitality will be a big no from me.

With an excellent location, where you can enjoy a picturesque view of Lachung valley. Also with exceptionally clean premises, delightful room & superb food, Plus a very friendly staff had really made our stay a memorable one.
