I havent generally written reviews when I go to vacations, since I am way too lazy to do that. But, I sincerely felt that I definitely need to write one for KLIFTON DOKHAM, because I really felt cheated and felt helpless on my recent trip to Lachung, Sikkim (with my wife and 7-year-old kid - for a nights stay).||||We followed the google maps / hotel staff instructions to reach the hotel. The property is situated wierdly, at the center of surrounding properties, without an approach road. Xylo / Innova are the vehicles that are allowed to ply tourists to Lachung / Lachen and the road that we were asked to take barely allowed our Xylo to reach to the front of the hotel.||||We checked-in to our room. The room is indeed as shown in the Makemytrip portal pictures. But, the cleanliness and the facilities of the hotel doesnt match the MMT decsription and rates that MMT / hotel charges. ||||What we expected were basic clean bed linen, working electrical sockets, basic clean restaurant, somebody to be available at the reception to ask what we need. ||||But, what we got was dirty linen (somebody else's hair all on pillow covers / bed spread - see attached pics), non-working electrical sockets, a super dirty restuarant (attached pics) and an almost always EMPTY RECEPTION desk, with nobody being present to hear to our requests.||||The hotel is heavily under staffed, with literally a 20-year-old person running the show - attending the reception desk, helping couple of kitchen staff in cooking, attending to the guest requests from their rooms, plucking flowers from the small garden (we happened to notice this :-)) which is next to the hotel and doing almost everything. He is super frustrated (for obviuos reasons) and thats where the friction with guests seem to start. ||||This is the reason as to why there is almost always nobody at the reception desk at all times. Security is a major concern and I will talk about this later in this thread. :-)||||We badly needed to charge our mobile phones since we were running out of both of our phones, and that was the first thing we tried when we got into the room. None of the sockets were working. We were told that there is a power cut and the power backup works only for one light in the room. We were super amazed at that statement. So, we asked what do we do to charge our phones, and we were told that we need to wait for the power to come back on. :-)||||We asked for the bed linen to be changed, and the hotel person just went to the next room, took off the bed spread from that bed and gave it to us (because there didnt seem to be spare, washed, ready-to-use bed spread). That was super dirty as well. There was no bed sheet to change, so he took off the bed sheet and provided a super-itchy RUG on top of what was present, in place of bedsheets.||||I complained to Makemytrip customer care about all this and in the process of this, I happened to go to the hotel roof top, to handover my mobile phone to the receptionist (because, remember? there's nobody at the reception desk :-)) to have him talk to MMT customer care. Thats when I happened to notice the hotel kitchen and the dining area. The kitchen was super dirty (pics attached, yes - I could easily take the photo of hotel kitchen, because there was nobody to ask who does what at the hotel :-)).||||As many of you must know, MMT takes it own sweet time to resolve and I didnt have that much time to get a solution. (I checked-in @ around 5 PM, it was super cold outside, about to rain and my cab guy had gone to his room somewhere far from our hotel). We kept our luggage in the room and headed to see if we can find a decent room nearby(it started raining and we could not afford to go to-and-fro for having dinner and come back to our room. Only option was to shift completely for the sake clean food).||||We fortunately got a decent room nearby. Got somebody from this new hotel to come with me and shift the luggage. We frequented between our new room & Klifton Dokham twice to shift luggage. Nobody at Klifton Dokham ever got to know / asked whether we were checking out, because, you-know-why, nobody at the lobby / reception desk. :-) It was like - any TOM DICK & HARRY could walk into the hotel and do whatever they feel like doing - which was a major security risk that I noticed and felt. No CCTV cameras / security person OR anything of that sort in place. I could not leave the room keys during my check-out, because there was nobody to collect. I took the key with me, without leaving it in the lobby / reception desk, as that could have led to misuse of my room for unknown purposes.||||As you could have realized by now - you only get a room for what you pay, and no other facilities, as claimed by hotel / MMT in their portal.||||I am still talking to MMT customer care, hoping to get some sort of refund. Whilst I am talking to MMT customer care, there is a comedy-of-errors that is going on, which will take another big post for me to explain. Just to quote the most funny one, the hotel manager (sitting somewhere in Kolkata) in conference call with MMT customer care, asked me whether I was sure that I have my luggage with me, because the hotel receptionist has been saying to the hotel manager that I have not really checked-out. How could he have known that I have checked-out, when he wasnt there when I was checking out. :-)||||Lastly, the hotel's name is NOT "KLIFTON DOKHAM". Its named "DOKHAM RESIDENCY". DOKHA in the name itself and I should have taken this clue before...
Read moreOne of the worst hotels you can find in Lachung is the Klifton Dhokam hotel. The rooms were so small that we had to take pain to settle ourselves in the hotel. There are only like 3 people who run the hotel, none of them will be available at the reception and neither will you have a number to reach out for help. ||||There are no CCTVs too, so if one decides to burgle your stuffs, it’s gonna be a piece of cake. There weren’t proper communication about how they serve their meals.. The most pathetic part is their food. It wasn’t that delicious and my wife got sick (food poison) the next day, after dining at this place the previous night.||||Even at the time of checkout there were no one at the reception, and we had to wait for 30 minutes, just to handover the keys to the receptionist. We’re thankful that this was merely a night stay. We had really bad experience, won’t recommend for anyone...
Read moreThe staff was very friendly in the beginning. We ordered dinner in the same hotel since it was very late, and dined in the dining area. They presented us with meals we did not order, on asking the rate we were told we will be intimated when we checkout. We did not order any breakfast in the morning since we were running late, but they sent us meals to our bedroom without any prior intimation. Neither extra meals in the dinner, nor breakfast was even asked to us. When we finally checked out, they added everything with all overpriced charges. As far as I understood, they have less number of customers staying, hence they try to loot the most out of the ones actually paying to stay. Highly disappointed service. Would not...
