The Hotel Wangdu — Hotel in Himachal Pradesh

I’ve stayed in Wangdu on three separate occasions with groups and on my own. It’s very hard to find a hotel in Rewalsar, and Wangdu is the best choice. The rooms are spacious and very clean for the hotel of this price category (there is a room for improvement in cleaning toilets though, like almost everywhere in India). I’ve never seen roaches or got bitten by bedbugs in this hotel (which I feel like can happen in other hotels in the area). The personal is extremely friendly and helpful. They speak English well - it’s rare, especially for such remote place. The food is excellent and so tasty! The cook made a non spicy food when we asked for it. The view on the restaurant terrace is spectacular. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Rewalsar. The mattresses in rooms are very comfortable. The energy is good - everyone in our group had the best sleep in Wangdu. There is no elevator in the hotel (the stuff will carry your bags in your room). The location of this hotel is undoubtedly good, offering a beautiful view of Rewalsar Lake and the grand statue of Guru Padmasambhava. Tsopema Lake can be clearly seen from the property, which adds to its charm. The hotel is budget-friendly and suitable for both solo travelers and families.

However, the owner seriously needs to re-evaluate the management and the performance of the staff. I stayed here for one night on 25th October 2025 and found the hygiene of the room in a very poor and neglected state. The bed had visible dust and hair, and overall cleanliness was completely unsatisfactory. Such a condition reflects a lack of supervision and care from the management side.

I had no other option but to stay that night, but this experience was disappointing. The owner should take immediate steps to ensure that basic hygiene and maintenance standards are properly followed. I had a very pleasant stay at Wangdu Hotel, and when I return to Rewalsar, I will definitely choose to stay here again. Here’s why: The rooms are comfortable and clean, with balconies offering beautiful views of the lake. The restaurant food is excellent, and the terrace has a fabulous view over Rewalsar. I will surely remember the evenings spent on the hotel’s rooftop terrace for a long time. And most importantly, the hotel staff were extremely friendly, kind, and very helpful. The hotel is within a reasonable walking distance from the lake shore, with a short climb up some steps, but its location in Rewalsar is still excellent.
