Originally built as a royal hunting lodge, the WelcomHeritage Taragarh Palace is a historic property that has tremendous potential to tap into its heritage charm and grandeur. However, the management has wasted a great opportunity to be one of the finest heritage properties in the region by lack of care and maintenance!! Especially the old heritage wing looks almost dilapidated and appears to be crumbling. The interior areas are dark and poorly lit. And the whole place feels like it needs a lot of more care and love!||LOCATION:The hotel's location is one of its major strengths. Perched atop a hillock, it offers breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar mountain range and the lush Kangra valley. The serene and tranquil surroundings provide a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. However, it's worth noting that the hotel is slightly isolated, and reaching popular tourist attractions or the town center may require a bit of travel.||DINE + DRINK: The highlight of the place is the vintage bar that really feels like a Hunting lodge watering hole! We absolutely enjoyed our time there. The grand Dining halls is grand only in appearance and the food quality has a long way to go! This hurt us a lot, as we were captive and had no other choice but to eat the food they served through an unavoidable BUFFET!||ROOM: We stayed in Room 302, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Partial views of the Dhauladhar mountains and the golf course from the nice window seating; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Old and dated, but good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: good spa quality toiletries by BIOTIQUE brand!||FACILITIES: Old and tired Gym with a poor range of weights and Cardio machines. The outdoor swimming pool has great potential as it is nestled within greenery and wilderness, but it is poorly maintained like the rest of the property. Also, we were quite intimidated by the wild monkeys that were attacking us on and off!||SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to MANKIT SINGH at the bar and RANJIT at the restaurant for hosting us like family!||HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, but the speed was quite Patchy! Medium-sized Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in...

Read moreWe were a group of 20 people and we stayed at Taragarh from the 7th to 10th of July . The first look of the property was amazing . When we reached we witnessed torrential downpour and it was disappointing to see no one was there to receive us or to escort us inside to the hotel . After checkin we were shown our rooms which were nice , spacious and grand . But as we were served hightea , the pakodas and tea was nothing great to talk of , same happened with dinner which was bland , totally tasteless and the staff was also to a point rude . I had done my booking from Delhi office and I dropped a complaint to Mr Ruben , Next morning I witnessed an all together different approach . The GM who wasnt at the hotel day before came to me and apologised personally. They asked us for our preferred menu , our choices etc and from that moment , every meal that we took and even all the snacks we ordered were exemplary . The taste , the flavours all were perfect . The staff was also very courteous then on . We had a lovely stay for the next 3 days and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The whole group was managed well and everyone felt happy . The property is beautiful undoubtedly, the Heritage building can be maintained more but we stayed in the Palace Building and liked it , its a heritage sight with huge gardens , and we loved it . So suffice it to say a little complaint went a long way and made our trip memorable . Also the house keeping staff was very courteous and nice . Overall a wonderful...
