Rather plush hotel situated on Govind Marg, in Raja Park, the area wasn't my fave area to stay, but there's a large shopping mall nearby and the main attractions of Jaipur aren't too far off.
If I'm honest, when I first seen a few photos of the outside, I thought it looked a bit tacky, it's fine though, and when I was shown up to my room by the dressed doorman, my expectations seemed to be met. The room ticked all my boxes for the price I paid – working A/C unit, fridge, safe, desk, nice view from the 6th floor..
The bed was as comfortable as you like, a good shower, desk & chair, plenty of working power sockets. The room was clean too.
Check in was pretty quick & painless, smiling staff, welcome drink. Given a WiFi password without asking (for THREE devices too, wow!).
It was also one of those hotels that tell you where you can stick your towels if you don't want them changing daily (I don't) Good for anyone that cares for the environment.
Noise levels weren't too bad, I could see the main road from my room, but there was just the low hum of traffic. I felt quite relaxed in my room actually in the evening, with the lights low, curtains open but nets closed which dulled all the brightly lit buildings and car headlights.
That's the good news over with. Four nights I stayed here and a few things got on my nerves.
The wifi sucked harder than my Mum's Electrolux (vacuum cleaner). The Fern claims itself to be a business hotel, so bad wifi is pretty unacceptable for such a place. Wifi on my mobile was bearable, but laptop? No chance!
I didn't rate breakfast. What's coffee? What's tea? What is THAT! Nothing was labelled. And how can you get toast wrong? The bread was bland, the chocolate muffin was bland, The vanilla milkshake had bits in it that weren't vanilla seeds (dirty glass).
My room fridge tried it's best to fight with the ac unit. Because its shut in a cupboard (I could barely open it and only from the bottom), this caused the fridge to give off quite a lot of heat, the contents weren't that cold either, thanks to this.
Laundry was too expensive – 4 shirts, 1 trouser & one shorts for Rs650. Saved a bit by not tipping (had to go down to reception to ask for my items back). Also on laundry, although the 2 guys that collected my stuff were polite, I can't see the ladies appreciating them taking everything out of the bag to seperate and count then and there.. yuck!!
The toilet seat didn't fit, the first time I sat on it, I thought I was going to fall off!
Wouldn't go...
