I still shudder when I think of the two nights that I spent in this sh!th0le in Mar 2021. Our birding guide Bittu (who deserves another 0.1-star review all to himself) booked this fleabag hotel to cut costs, despite our warning him about all the bad reviews this place had received. We were fools indeed to trust him. We arrived late in the evening (around 8:00pm), cold and hungry, only to be scolded by the staff for keeping them waiting. After a dinner of watery dal, leather rotis and oily potato sabzi, we went to sleep and the generator was promptly switched off. To be fair, the whole of Lachen had a power cut that night. The next evening, power was restored, all Lachen was aglow with lights except this cesspool of a place, which was still a dark and dank dungeon. After a lot of arguments and shouting, the staff condescended to switch on the generator for a couple of hours. At the stroke of 10:00pm, the staff cut the generator, again. While all Lachen had electricity, we huddled miserably in the only place in Lachen without power. Some reviewers have mentioned geysers and hot water, but we didn't see any of it. Someone should do the world a favour and erase this place off the map. The rooms were so so, the food was worse than jail chow, and the staff could have doubled for jail staff. Our guide had planned for us to spend three nights in this dump, bit we revolted after the second. We are still traumatised by the experience. It's going to take a while to recover. If I ever return to Lachen, I'll sleep on the road in a tent rather than stay in...
Read moreWe landed at this place around 1500 hrs. after a bone-rattling journey from Gangtok. Imagine our shock when we found a dead, dingy, very unimpressive, two-storey building, with no one at the Reception. This was after we had re-confirmed our fully paid for one-night booking with some special meal arrangements with Ms. Bhawna Goorung, Operation & Sales Manager, RightClique Hospitality Pvt. Ltd, Mob: +91 9733552248 on mobile and on email.||||So, we trudged up and found the receptionist sleeping in one of the guest rooms on the first floor. He said he can’t help us with anything – rooms, meals, early breakfast the next day for our trip to Gurudongmar lake et al, as there was no electricity in the hotel and the hotel had no back-up!||||Alarmed, we called up Bhawna and found her phone switched off. Which means she knew what the real situation was and was now fobbing us off. So, we called up Makemytrip who had done this booking for us. They cancelled the booking and refunded our deposit 100% within five minutes.||||Fortunately, we found another good hotel nearby which had electricity back-up and which could serve us hot buffet dinner, and took a room.||||A total mis-click this...
Read moreI planned my Sikkim Family trip with Newa Holidays and stayed at many of their hotels, including Lamtey Valley. This is a brand new hotel, and the authentic Sikkimese culture is reflected on exteriors and interiors. The motif and decor helps you imbibe the local vibe and not only provides a place to stay. Rooms are very comfortable. Floors and walls are wood insulated adding great comfort and looks. Washrooms are large, modern, clean and well laid-out. And the stand out things are: Location -Right on the main road with beautiful portico Great homely food Warm and caring staff
To be honest, the stay in this hotel was as good as visiting a tourist attraction. Large room windows opened to give you a majestic snow capped Himalayan peaks right from your bed.
Considering this hotel started barely a few days ago. a good service was in place, and with time and feedback, it will only improve. Wish the management very best and all tourist...
