We are 'Purple' Members with a Corporate membership (family business) with me being an employee there working in the Business Development, and the company provided an authorization letter for me. I went on vacation to Club Mahindra VIRAJPET with my family (in-laws and husband), and the check-in process was a disaster. The reception staff had no clue how to handle corporate memberships. They demanded a guest fee despite me showing the authorization letter. They were utterly confused about the 'dependent' aspect of the reservation and flat-out refused to read the authorization letter. Not only were they completely ignorant of the check-in process, but their attitude was also intolerable. No smiles, no courtesy—they acted like they were doing a favor for the homeless by giving us a room. Arrogant beyond belief!
I had to press hard my point at the reception for them to understand the issue, and they created a big scene and that’s how my holiday started on the occasion of both mine and my husband's birthdays.
After checking in, we went to the restaurant to inquire about the food tariff. The lady at the counter had the nerve to claim we were non-members. I would gladly accept being a non-member if they refunded the membership fee and stopped harassing me with calls for Annual Maintenance. Is that when they recognize me as a member but fail to do so when I am at their resort? HOW EMBARRASSING! So unprofessional.
A senior citizen in my family was offered some discounts at the restaurant, but I was looking for discounts for the rest of us. The lady directed me to a person named Mr. Karthik from the F&B department, who not only insulted us but also showed blatant disrespect towards Mr. Anand Mahindra. With an air of insufferable arrogance, he proclaimed that he was the ONLY person in the entire resort who could grant food tariff discounts. I couldn't help but laugh at his ludicrous attitude, considering my numerous connections in the F&B segment at Mahindra. I mentioned this, only for him to sneer and snap, "THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO KNOW ANAND MAHINDRA TOO, AND ONLY I CAN GIVE THE BEST PRICE."
When I criticized his behavior, this insolent man had the audacity to lecture me, telling me that I NEED TO LEARN TO BEHAVE FIRST. He dared to judge my actions in the restaurant, deeming them unworthy of his approval. This man had the unmitigated gall to speak down to a member, whose fees contribute to his salary. HIS CONDUCT WAS SO EGREGIOUS THAT HE BELONGS IN A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT GUESTHOUSE, NOT A RESORT OF THIS ESTEEMED CALIBER. This man is nothing short than a rotten apple, spoiling the entire experience with his despicable behavior!
I immediately took this issue to the newly appointed resort manager Mr. Sapan Das Sajjan, who listened to my complaint for an hour (during MY holiday) and had NO answers. WELL DONE, MANAGER. WELL DONE, MAHINDRA!
I refused to eat at the resort restaurant after this incident. I ordered food from outside, only to be stopped at the gate by the watchman, who claimed I couldn't bring outside food in. WHAT NONSENSE! Are the Mahindras now invading our personal space to monitor what we eat? And what we do? What are the ovens in the rooms for? To BAKE WHOSE BRAIN?.. Certainly not Ours!
The rooms were another nightmare. The washrooms were filthy, with slippery algae forming on the sides. Why are you charging maintenance fees when nothing is maintained?
The GAME OR FUN ZONE was another disappointment. The POOL table looked like it was picked from a garbage dump. They blame children for spoiling the table? Pathetic. I asked them to keep in on 'Charged' basis like every other property and no one has a clue what I was speaking. VERY CONVENIENT. The person in-charge of the fun zone was not to be seen around for more than an hour and on enquiry i was told he has gone to play cricket himself, leaving the whole department as an orphan. Ridiculous!
THANK YOU for spoiling our Birthday Vacation with the worst of the experience....
Read moreTHE REVIEW IS LONG - BUT WORTH A READ I ASSURE. I am a Member of your Club and feel disheartened to write this in. I stayed at your VIRAJPET facility between 2nd and 4th I came promptly at 1:00 PM and was NEVER greeted like the usual Tradition of the Club is. This was a bummer to begin with. I still gave it a benefit of doubt suspecting some issue with the available Staff.
After I walked into the Check-In counter and gave my ID proof – I was asked to wait and then it was processed further. The Guide who ushered us to our Room just kept ranting about the property and facilities just like reading off a SCRIPT.
Now comes the ENTRY into the STUDIO APARTMENT – It was CLEAN no questions about it. The PATHETIC bit was that there were no toiletries provided (brush, paste and shaving kit). This is STANDARD and should have had 3 pairs of Dental Kits and AT LEAST one pair of Razor in place. This disappointed me and I had to call the House Keeping 2 times to get these basic amenities. The room did have a good small Kitchenette which is of immense help. In continuation to that – the Coffee Sachets were not replenished (ideally should be done each day morning). YET again I had to call House Keeping and they promptly got some for me. I am a Black Coffee person so needed the Caffeine badly. Bottom line is – this should have been in place without me asking for it every time. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE by any standards. The Western Commode needs to be cleaned. It was DIRTY.
Let me start off with my lunch/food Experience – We walked in, tired and hungry to the Restaurant (AROMAS). The first thing that the Person at the Entrance was trying to do was SELL the MEAL Package. This left a bad taste in my mouth. My honest feedback is that - it was HORRIBLE to say the least. Most of the food was either finished or tasted VERY AVERAGE. For the Price we pay – I expected it to be CLASSIER and TASTIER. I can bet the Roadside DHABA would have served better meals. Given the Resort is far from Main Road – we ended up with a huge bill which DID NOT justify the Quality of Food served. The Non-Veg Options were non-existent. Trust me - Club Mahindra - Madkeri has an excellent Kitchen and food options.
The other concern is regarding the PATHWAY LIGHTING – I am not sure what Power bill these guys are going to save, and God knows the reason behind it - it is VERY DIM and can barely see the track in the night. Considering the guests walk in a place with good amount of Vegetation – there needs to be GOOD lighting. It was so dim and dingy – I almost stepped on a small Snake (not kidding). The Lighting is SHEER STUPIDITY.
The parking lot is a GENIUS MASTER STROKE – YOU need to walk almost a few 100 meters to park. They should keep it STILL farther away from the Main Building – People like me who do not like WALLET Parking and have surgeries can deal with the pain. This is RIDICULOUS – the parking is all DIRTY and Muddy.
SOMEHOW, WE COMPLETED OUR STAY AND CAME TO THE CHECK-OUT PHASE WHICH WAS EVEN MORE PATHETIC.
I reviewed the BILL to see that MS. SUSHMITA had added 7749 INR to my final BILL which was not something that we had consumed or agreed to. Comes back again to selling the Meal Package – STOP being such CHEAP SALESPERSONS trying to push something down a Guest’s mouth. This surprise BILL got me to lose TRUST in CLUB MAHINDRA.
Let me wind up my HUGE Feedback with a summary.
THE GOOD THINGS: Most of the staff are courteous and smile when you walk past. Special mention of Ms. ARPITA & Mr. NEGI from House Keeping and Mr. KAMLESH from Poolside. The campus is EXCELLENT – good location, nice Pool side. Neatly maintained walkways and great surroundings. Neat Rooms with little improvements needed. SOME of the People are GREAT to interact with
I am writing this review afer a few days to ACKNOWLEDGE the GOOD and express my DISPLEASURE over the BAD. Thank you all for hosting us and will NOT Return to Virajpet Club Mahindra.

We recently stayed at Club Mahindra Virajpet, Coorg with a group booking of 45 rooms. While the property itself is stunning — surrounded by scenic beauty, lush greenery, and offering a range of activities — our overall experience fell short of expectations, especially considering the scale of our booking.
🌿 Property & Location
The resort is undeniably beautiful. The location, landscape, and atmosphere truly justify its reputation as one of the most scenic properties in Coorg. Perfect blend of nature and peace.
🍽️ Food & Dining Experience
The highlight of our entire stay was the food — absolutely exceptional! All credit goes to Chef Mr. Tara Bhushan, who deserves a 50/10 rating for his cooperation, professionalism, and service that went above and beyond expectations. He was the backbone of our experience — personally ensuring every meal was delicious and customized for our group’s needs.
However, the rest of the kitchen and service team was unfortunately below average. Basic service, like refilling a dish or even tea, took 30–60 minutes. It became almost a joke at one point — even a tea refill took close to 50 minutes. The staff seemed inattentive and uncoordinated, often not responding even to instructions from the F&B Manager or Chef. At one point, when I personally checked the kitchen, several service staff were sitting and playing on their phones during peak meal time.
Hospitality & Service
Despite such a large group booking, the hospitality and service were not up to the mark. Simple requests like towel changes or room service calls went unanswered even after 4 follow-up calls. Many guests faced similar issues with housekeeping not responding in time.
Mr. Sajjan, the property in-charge, deserves appreciation for his cooperation and helpful attitude. He truly tried his best to make things smooth, but beyond him, most of the staff seemed disinterested or unmotivated.
🚗 Transportation (Buggy Service)
For a 34-acre and 177 rooms property, they have only 3–4 buggies, out of which 2 are always in charging and buggy drivers are totally disinterested in working. We often had to wait 30–45 minutes for a buggy — and that too only after arguing and insisting at the reception. This is unacceptable for a resort of this scale.
🎯 Activities & Entertainment
The activity area and schedule were decent, but the attitude of the activity team was disappointing. At 8:15 PM, we requested just a 5–10 minute extension of the DJ (which was part of the resort’s regular activity), but the team rudely refused, saying they had “other work.” However, they were always available and eager for any paid activities — a clear sign of being money-minded rather than guest-oriented.
We also requested a mic and small Bluetooth speaker for group games — they quoted ₹16,500 + GST, which was unreasonable, especially when we weren’t allowed to use our own.
⚖️ Overall Impression
While the property and food (thanks to Chef Tara Bhushan) were outstanding, the hospitality, service standards, and guest experience were far from what one expects from a reputed brand like Club Mahindra.
It honestly felt like groups or bulk bookings are not welcome, given the poor service and attitude despite the large business we gave. The management seriously needs to revisit staff training, guest responsiveness, and flexibility in handling large groups.
Summary: ⭐ Property & Location – 9/10 ⭐ Food (Chef Tara Bhushan) – 50/10 ⭐ Staff & Service – 3/10 ⭐ Activities & Flexibility – 4/10 ⭐ Overall Experience – 3/10
If not for the Chef Tara Bhushan and Mr. Sajjan, this trip would’ve been a total disappointment. Hope the management takes this as constructive feedback to improve hospitality and focus on guest experience over excessive...
