Firstly about Kalasa, it truly is the Meghalaya of Karnataka. The cool and calm weather (even during summers!), lovely people, and the lush green surroundings makes it worth a visit and stay. And when we speak of stay, nothing beats Coffee Gudda! I could write an essay about this place, the friendly staff, the ever-so-welcoming owner, the lip-smacking food, the varity of facilities, and so on. But with the given character limit let me touch upon these areas in short. Coffee Gudda is a serene and cozy resort on the lap of mother nature, where you will be surrounded by helpful team (who will try and meet all your requests with a smile), a beautiful huge infinity swimming pool, all-round greenery, and a fun mix of indoor and outdoor activities for adults and kids. There are quite a few places you could visit around the area and the Coffee Gudde team (led by Pradip anna and supported by Krishna) will be more than happy to help you plan and visit places like, Yelneer Watefalls (starting point of Netravati River), Sooji Gudda peak (A MUST VISIT for the most picturesque view, if you don't mind trekking uphill for approx 4 kms), Kyatanamakki (for a fun bumpy ride and the sunset and sunrise view), and so on. Bonfire with complimentary onion/potato bhajis served to your table in the evenings with music playing in the background is a lovely touch and something we looked forward to every day. One of the highlights of Coffee Gudda is the delicious food. All your meals are included in the package and there is a variety of items served in each of them. Every day they have a different menu and the food items keep getting better - a huge shoutout to the chef! We were lucky to have met with the owner of the resport, Ravi Anna - he is a gem of a person and great to interact with. Coffee Gudda and Kalasa has been one of our best holiday experiences and we are definitely coming back! If you ever are to plan a trip to Kalasa, I suggest you don't look beyond...
Read moreWe 12 friends visited coffee Gudda during the weekend. We started the travel at 4:00AM and stopped for Breakfast before reaching Hassan. We reached Coffee Gudda only at 2 PM. Coffee Gudda is situated on the bank of Bhadra River in the coffee estate. The word Gudda (Hill in Kannada) is misleading as it has no view of any Gudda/Hill from the resort around. You have to go out uphill to view any Gudda around. Not the best place to visit. I have lived in Kudremukh from 1976 – 2002. although the images on the website looks great they are from nearby place. There are many better place than Coffee Gudda around the same area. Not worthy to travel from Bangalore to this place and the cost is very high for the facility provided. It is disappointing when you reach there after all that long travel of 9+hr. Had an unpleasant stay. Food was very average, no varieties, taste and quality was not that great. Also road leading to resort is under repair and parking the car is on the road side.
Ratings for this resort on web is highly misleading. There is nothing great in this resort for more that 2-3 star rating or below. When one of our friend gave low star review, the management called and asked to delete the review.
Pros - Greenery for Coffee plantation and bank of river. Staff response was OK. Small Swimming pool Few indoor games
Cons – Not worth the price per head per day 8-9 hrs drive from Bangalore. 3hr drive from Chikmagalur. Food taste was mediocre. Booking reschedule or advance cancellation is not available. (We had requested them for a reschedule10 days in advance but we were denied and advance will be forfeited if not visited on the scheduled...
Read moreCoffee Gudda was one of our best vacation memories. A spectacularly large area and a wonderful sight of lustrous green life that surrounded us. The rooms were clean and had a considerable amount of space given. But the best part was the service, the staff were mellow and very helpful. They treated us like we were their first priority and they always made our day more colorful. Krishna, who took astonishing photos with different angles, clear images and he made us try all the different types of food given. Mallesh and Ramesh, who were excellent tour guides as they explained and showed us the best photographic and serene nature spots. Anappa, who was astoundingly talented as he made delicious and various meals for us which were also super filling; not only a good cook, but he was also a safe and trustable driver (for us when we wanted to visit peak of some mountain spots) who made us feel comfortable on our seats even on a painfully hard driveway (it was a narrow, steep and rocky mountain roads). Vidya, was a tender-hearted and caring receptionist who helped us have the best time in Coffee Gudda possible, she asked our food preferences and assisted us for the perfect room for us to stay in. Finally, Pradeep, who enlightened our day with joyful smiles and he made our itinerary for the entire stay so that it stayed fruitful and enjoyable; and because of him we got to look at the best vacation spots near Kalasa. The entire stay there, in Coffee Gudda, was eventful with no lull period. Families would love this place and are suggested to come here in the holidays. And ofcourse, they make strong and delightful coffee which we most...
