Hotel Ganga Sagar on Bajpe Road is a delightful spot for anyone craving delicious and satisfying Indian cuisine. During our visit, we had the pleasure of trying their Biryani and Chicken Crispy, and both dishes were absolutely outstanding.
The Biryani was a true highlight, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The rice was fragrant and well-seasoned, and the tender pieces of chicken were generously portioned, blending seamlessly with the aromatic spices. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, showcasing the chef's expertise in crafting this classic dish.
Equally impressive was the Chicken Crispy. The dish lived up to its name, offering perfectly crispy and succulent chicken pieces that were both flavorful and satisfying. The seasoning was spot-on, with just the right amount of spice to make it irresistible. It made for an excellent appetizer and paired wonderfully with the Biryani.
The restaurant itself is welcoming and comfortable, with a warm ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. They were quick to take our orders and served the food promptly, which added to the overall positive experience.
In addition to the great food and service, the cleanliness and hygiene standards of Hotel Ganga Sagar were commendable, making it a pleasant and worry-free dining environment.
Overall, Hotel Ganga Sagar on Bajpe Road exceeded our expectations with their delicious Biryani and Chicken Crispy. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality Indian cuisine in a friendly and welcoming setting. We look forward to our next visit to explore more of their...
Read moreStayed 2 nights here with family in 2 AC rooms with a gap of 1 night in between for my pilgrimage to Sringeri.
Pros: Location: located very near to the airport and for folks who are planning a stay for airport transit, this is perfect. Courteous and friendly staff: Courteous staff, helped me with a cab to the airport. Clean and well maintained rooms: very well maintained rooms
Cons: Horrible food: the vegetarian food that I ordered through room service was not up to the mark both on taste and quality aspect. The family absolutely did not enjoy the taste of majority of dishes served. I reached back to Chennai yesterday and the whole day I've been down with vomiting and diarrhea. The tray that was used to bring the food to the room had a cockroach in it. Thankfully it was not on the food but it really did it's bit in spoiling the appetite of the whole family. "Family" restaurant: the receptionist explained that they have a great family restaurant inside. But one cannot exactly eat with family when there are a bunch of adults in next seats who are laughing out loud and drinking alcohol in the seats next to you. So had to go back to the room for room service. Would have been good if they had restricted the alcohol zone of the hotel to a specific part of the restaurant. I had booked rooms in make my trip asking for King sized bed as my infant sleeps in between my wife and me. However, the bed provided was just 2 single beds put together and hence it was sinking in between big time making it difficult for the infant.
All in all, a very good place to stay but absolutely won't recommend the food or the restaurant if you are traveling...
Read moreVisited Gangasagar in Bachpe, Mangalore, after hearing high recommendations from my girlfriend’s aunt and her side of the family, who have been regulars here for the past 2-3 years. Unfortunately, my first experience didn’t quite meet expectations.
The ambience had potential, but the lighting was very poor for what’s supposed to be a fine dining setup. We visited late in the evening, but other tables were still occupied, so it didn’t seem like a timing issue—just a general lack of proper lighting.
Service was decent. The waiter who attended to us was quite elderly but did his best and managed things well enough—maybe 80% of what you'd expect in terms of attentiveness.
However, the biggest letdown was the hygiene, especially the ladies’ washroom, which was in terrible condition—uncleaned and clearly not maintained. This is something that needs immediate attention.
Coming to the food: Chicken Manchow Soup and Andhra Chicken Chilli were the highlights for me—flavorful and well made.
Naan (bread) was soft and nice.
But the rest of the starters felt very generic, lacking uniqueness or great taste.
The beer and other dishes were just average, nothing that stood out.
It seems like this place holds sentimental value for the regulars, and maybe that’s why it continues to be a favorite for some. But having dined at multiple restaurants across Mangalore, coastal Karnataka, and Bangalore, I’d say Gangasagar has a lot of room for improvement, especially in terms of food quality, hygiene, and ambience.
Wouldn’t personally recommend it unless some major...
