It is around 3.8 Km away from KSRTC bus stand. However, that seems not far in terms of suitable properties that came in my search list in Coorg. We reached over there around 5am early morning, however, Joseph Sir was very kind to welcome us and allowed early check-in, subjected to room availability. I'm really grateful for his gesture. It is on the Mangalore Highway Road so you won't be getting any shops nearby. Joseph Sir and Ma'am have been staying there for over a decade and most of the cab and auto drivers know him and the property very well. Within 5 minutes walk there is a bus stand from where you can go to the main Coorg bus stand in case you don't have your own transportation.
Regarding rooms, they are very well maintained. Only one suggestion would be to get the renovation done if possible as I found the room where I stayed a bit dampened. But overall believe me you'll enjoy every bit of your stay along with good scenic beauty from the common space if you are staying in 1st floor. Since Joseph Sir is himself staying in the property, he has really take a good care of the property.
Regarding fooding, they probably don't provide the lunch. However we had our dinner in the homestay only. They have a full time house help who is also very courteous. She cooks good, we used to get hot and fresh homemade food, what else you can expect while travelling. You can ask her for tea and coffee as well as needed. The food charges are also comparatively lesser compared to the lunches we had outside.
The househelp's husband has an auto as well. They might offer you to avail it for local sight seeing and drop to the bus stand if applicable. But if you're going to avail get the fare settled in advance with the guy. He charges too much. So you could avail some alternate options if possible.
Overall I could say it was a good experience in Madikeri Misty Homestay and interaction with Joseph Sir and his entire team. They are doing this business...
Read moreIt was a warm afternoon in December, when we checked in at Madikeri Misty Homestay. It was a nice and cosy room with attached bathroom and an extra bed for the three of us to accommodate comfortably in one room. The room overlooked a beautiful view of mountains and a small garden. The room and the washroom were both spacious, neat and clean, with hot water facilities round the clock. They provided us with complimentary breakfast in the morning. The coffee and the curd deserve a special mention owing to the excellent quality. One can get dinner at Madikeri Misty but lunch has to be taken outside, in the city.||As per location and connectivity, it was 3 kms from the heart of the city and so placed in a comparatively silent locality with the beauty of nature all around.||Auto services are frequently available to go to the city, from the National Highway just next to the Homestay, for Rs 50/- or Rs. 60/- Anything that they charge more than this is not the correct fare and one must not agree to paying extra.||What I thoroughly enjoyed at Madikeri Misty is the terrace which can be a Haven to birdwatchers since the birds can be seen singing and chirping around this area throughout the day..but the best time is in the morning. |I would like to thank Mr. Joseph sincerely for being so kind as to drop me at the Madikeri bus stand early in the morning from where I could catch the bus to Ooty. Hope to...
