Day 01 - 28 Dec 2022 We (2 families of 6 people) reached this place at around 9:15. We requested an early check-in. They agreed to give 1 group room for 2 families so we could freshen up and promised to give us our rooms at 1:00 PM, fair enough. We informed them 2 more families are going to reach the hotel by 1:00 - 2:00 PM so requested to make sure we get the rooms by 1:00 PM.

We had to pull our bags to the rooms no one cared to help us with our bags. They assigned one guy to show us to our room he didn't even care to carry one bag. Imagine pulling your luggage over grass, pebbles and uneven stone tiles.

After freshening up we decided to hit the restaurant as we were very hungry and there was no power supply. They had some problems with their inverter/power generator which they agreed to and said because they were fully occupied and they were facing power supply issues.

The Restaurant: We waited for good 10 minutes at the restaurant table no one cared to attend to us. One of us walked to the waiter and got the menu to the table and eventually after many persistent efforts the waiter came to attend to us. Now here we are told by the waiter they are not entertaining custom orders as there is a wedding/engagement function at the resort and the kitchen staff is busy there. The only option was to take the buffet option. So we ordered food from Swiggy which we ate in our rooms.

After finishing lunch there was no water in the taps again because there was no power supply so they could not pump water to the water tanks. We had to wash our hands with bottled water.

Check-in: After a lot of follow-ups with the reception staff, we got our rooms at 3:00 PM and still, the power issue was not resolved.

Dinner: In the evening a buffet dinner was included in the package. They said the dinner will be served at the table we were OK with it until we came to know they were serving the same food that they had cooked for the wedding. The spread was not as much as we got the second day which of course we came to know the other day. The main course was served cold which was heated on request.

We were looking forward to a quiet dinner by the sea. But much to our disappointment the wedding party kept playing loud music (They were entitled to their fun, but it was a spoiler for us) The resort should not entertain other customers when they have a private function as it disturbs other guests who go on a vacation for some serene time by the sea. So we decided to spend the rest of the time in our rooms.

Day 02 - 29 Dec 2022 Breakfast: The food was good.

We left this place at 11:00 AM for some sightseeing so handed over the keys at the reception and requested that our rooms be cleaned.

We returned to the resort at 7:00 PM; much to our dismay the rooms were still not cleaned. All four of them. We had to again loiter around and wait till they cleaned our rooms which were around 30-45 minutes. They kept giving some lame excuses. One of the staff at the reception was very rude and unprofessional also she could speak only in the local language and some English No Hindi even. Only after my friend gave her an earful they started running around to clean our rooms.

Dinner: The buffet was decent.

Day 03 - 30 Dec (Checkout) Again no one helped us carry our bags to the reception/lobby. We dragged our luggage to our vehicle. Summary

This is the first resort I have ever visited that bills you on the check-in.

The 2 managers on day & evening shifts are trying their best but somehow are not able to keep up.

The staff is not proactive and does not understand the nuances of the hotel/service industry.

They can't handle big-ticket items like a wedding etc. should stay away from that and concentrate on their actual guests, cause these are the people who might come back to the resort if they are happy with the service.

The rooms, linen and bathrooms were clean. Air-conditioning worked fine. Question: Will I ever visit this place...

Peace of placeVery bad service and this result parking very bad and receptionist man no responsibility The welcome into the hotel was horrible. The manager Samson was a true harami person. He made us wait 1 hour for check-in even though we requested we had a kid. He was extremely rude and absolutely unprofessional while speaking to us. He offered shady deals without bill and further delayed the process. The villa itself was at least 100 years old and need massive upgrade. The beach the resort is attached with is extremely dangerous and one cannot play in the water. So that part is misleading. The breakfast was horrrible as well. Overall experience was absolutely ruined just because of the vengeful manager Samson. I will never stay or recommend anybody to stay here again.Summer Sands Beach Resort." As the name suggests, this restaurant is near the beach so it is specializes in seafood dishes, showcasing the freshest catches of the day. The menu features a variety of options, from grilled fish to seafood pasta, all cooked to perfection. The service here is exceptional, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the different types of seafood and can provide recommendations based on your preferences. The ambiance is relaxed and casual, perfect for a laid-back dining experience. If you're a seafood enthusiast, Summer Sands Beach Resort is a must-try. Enjoy food while seeing waves 😊Would have given 5 marks but cut 1 marks due to water pressure in washroom. Room are spacious and have basic amenities . The property itself is huge and have direct access to beach . Food is nice but their service is slow .also their breakfast is everyday fix and have limited item.i would recommend to add one more fresh juice and atleast 1 North Indian breakfast item to their buffet . Pool is clean and gives good scenic view . It's away from city so if you here , please enjoy the property.Beautiful beach with towering lighthouse in background. Lighthouse closes by 5pm need to visit lighthouse by 4.30pm. Beach is beautiful with white sand. Children should be accompanied by adults as waves cam get rough at timesA scenic beach near to kasaragod town, but with no facilities for tourists. It’s I’ll maintained with litter all around. Developing this beach will attract lots of tourists- local as well as from far...

To anyone who is reading this, if am to sum up our experience and make a recommendation into a single sentence it would be - you may/may not enjoy the stay, it's actually a 50/50 chance.

Here's a bit more about the experience. What's likeable - location, the size & natural aesthetic of the property, the accomodation options you have.

What could improve alot - is property's maintenance, breakfast and menu for other times. We had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Room 1 had some damaged cabinets but that was not a big concern, the air conditioning was working but a struggle with the systems (blame it on old systems UX). Refrigerator worked barely in 1 of the rooms. We adjusted through all this after all we were a group that didn't really plan to stay in much. But the first night 1 of the rooms leaked badly from the roof and a good share of rain water found its way to wake us up at 2am. Thanks to room's size we moved the beds quickly and slept the night, reported it next morning and was told it'll be fixed, we went for city tour. Returned back to our neatly done rooms(good housekeeping) but alas 1 room was just flooded. This really was a low point especially when we had a long n tiring drive back in the rains. We complained immediately, because housekeeping had kept the beds back in original position and now it was all wet and there was no way we could adjust through. Unfortunately the same night the resort was completely booked out (whatever functioning villas i.e.) finally the management arranged a dorm space of another villa that seemed like used for maintenance works. This ended with us requesting a discount at the least at checkout next day (Front office people were just like helpless middle men in that negotiation). Finally we got a small discount on the leaking room for 2nights (1280) and settled for it. And oh yes, the main pool was empty for repairs, we managed with kids pool (reasonably deep for swimming, not babies pool - which was shut too). The beach has a big drop on the property's front and doesn't feel safe for a swim or a dip. But if you walk further north I guess it's ok.

While our experience wasn't pleasant, I do feel with the right management and some good maintenance this property can be one that's...

We chose the resort as it seemed to be the only one near a beach along the coast near Mangalore city. It is 7 kms from Mangalore junction railway station and it is easy to get a transport to and from the resort. The resort itself is on a large property and has lot of villas. It is a good place if you travel in large groups. There are villas with 3 rooms in each of them. We were a party of 12 adults and 2 kids so this helped us in having a good time as a family. They also helped us in early checkin as we reached Mangalore by 7 AM and were not quite sure what to do if an early checkin was not available. Rooms were quite normal. They were neat and clean with fresh linen and bath towels. The place seems to have seen much better days and the property needs an upgrade badly. The restaurant is a different story. Sea food options are less and they managed to mess up the local favorites like squid ghee roast and fish tava fry. The prawns seemed frozen and not fresh. Noon services were fast but the evening services were at a snails pace because of the rush of guests though there was no shortage of kitchen staff. Plain rotis took about an hour to deliver. There were only 3 types of sea food served which was a bit disappointing being at the coast. The drinks services were also slow...I had to go to the bar to get a refill of my Gin and Tonic since my order never arrived at the table..cocktails took about 40 mins and once served we found that too to be disappointing in presentation and taste. Taking one star away from my review because of the dismal restaurant service.

Visited couple of days back in July 22, below are my views :- Rooms:- Rooms are very clean and all necessary things are on place. Location:- It's bit far from Mangalore city approx 6-8 kms, this resort is very near to Ullal. Swimming Pool:- Pool was clean and views was very beautiful as you can see beach from there and you can listen it's sound. Food:- Food is fine and cost is normal but if you are a vegetarian then options are less and many items aren't available there. But for non vegetarian and sea food lover this is best place. Breakfast is complementary and quality was good. Live music:- if you are going on weekend like saturday then you can listen live music there, though the music system is not very good but the singer was very good, she knows english, hindi songs. Pick & Drop:- They provide Air port taxi pick up and drop service but with extra cost. Beach Views:- Beach were not very clean as they are having own private beach but not as nice as other beaches in Mangalore, still you can enjoy. **Room rates are inclusive of Tax and only for rooms, everything is extra like Lunch, Dinner only breakfast is complementary.keep your keys safe as if it missed then you have to pay huge amount. Also if you want to visit Mangalore city please take local bus from Ullal Chauraha which is very cheap approx 20 rs per person but auto will charge 300-400 Rs.
