Positive:
The resort rooms are spacious. That’s the first thing needed if you visit with big family group. The resort is more suitable for Family vacation stay. The staff is really supportive. I interacted with almost everyone and they were more than helpful They have maintained the cleanliness not only in rooms but also around the property. Pool is super clean and never had issues dipping in pool(unhygienic, more chlorine etc). Same goes with Baby pool Jacuzzi and Rain dance is a plus if you are visiting with Kids
Area of Improvements
Food taste and variety of buffet menu ABSOLUTELY need to be improved. The taste is not great as such. The variety of menu was lacking and some of the items were repetitive. Same goes for breakfast and high tea snacks The food (breakfast, Lunch, High Tea with Snacks, Dinner) is served at specific time slot. Although, it’s for managing larger crowd, it becomes extremely nuisance if you are travelling with kids or toddlers. For example, you can’t get Tea or milk or coffee in early morning as it’s served along with breakfast starting at 8 am. I asked for this and the cook/serving team declined. Really need to provide a-la-carte food and drinks (snacks, tea, milk) at your resort. You can’t expect guest to stay hungry and eat within stipulated time by you. There is no restaurant nearby within 10 kms if you wish to eat something on the fly The resort booking information says that they have SPA. It’s was not available and I was told it’s yet to be operational. Need to have dormitory for larger groups
Notes for Travellers
Keep additional cash with you as you won’t get cellular range. The internet speed within property is really not up to the mark. Hence no UPI. Rather in entire Dandeli forest, you will not have seamless internet You can carry BSNL sim as they have good range within forest area Carry snacks items if you have kids The resort don’t have any leisure activities. The most activities are outside in jungle area and Adventure activities at Kali river. So draw your plan for each day what you are going to do and move accordingly Must have your own vehicle if you want to explore River adventure activities starts from 9-9:30 Am. Reach sharp around that time, else as the day progress the crowd gets impossible and you will end up missing the activities Forest safari starts in morning and evening slots. Check the timings with reception area and plan before
You can see Sahyaadri Falls (19-22 kms from resort), Crocodile Park (10-12 kms from resort).
Overall good experience at resort but there are lot of improvement areas. The resort if improved can become into...
Read moreDissatisfactory Experience
My recent visit to Woodpecker's Resort in Dandeli left much to be desired. The overall experience was disappointing due to several notable drawbacks that significantly impacted our stay.
Firstly, the accommodations were far from satisfactory. The rooms lacked proper air conditioning and were afflicted by incessant noise when the AC was operational, making it nearly impossible to sleep peacefully. This issue was exacerbated by unclean beds and subpar towels, creating an uncomfortable environment for guests.
One of the essential aspects of any resort is the quality of food served. Unfortunately, the food at Woodpecker's Resort failed to meet basic standards. The limited variety of dishes available was disappointing, and even worse, the served items were not adequately hot. This lack of freshness and warmth significantly detracted from the dining experience.
Moreover, the dearth of activities available at the resort was a letdown. A comprehensive range of activities is usually expected at a resort to cater to guests' diverse preferences and needs. Regrettably, the options for leisure and entertainment were severely limited, contributing to a lackluster stay.
Another crucial amenity that was notably deficient was the absence of hot water for bathing. This inconvenience is particularly distressing, especially for guests with young children, like my one-year-old son. The inability to provide hot water for bathing compromised our comfort and disrupted our daily routine.
Furthermore, the state of the swimming pool was highly unsatisfactory, with visibly dirty water. A clean and well-maintained pool is an integral part of any resort, and the neglect in maintaining proper hygiene standards was disappointing and concerning.
In conclusion, my experience at Woodpecker's Resort was deeply unsatisfactory. The combination of subpar accommodations, inadequate amenities, unappetizing food, limited activities, and poor maintenance of essential facilities significantly marred what was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I would not recommend this resort to anyone seeking a pleasant and comfortable vacation...
Read moreHorrible room experience,
We actually booked two rooms, one was some premium deluxe(which had the below faults) the other was pool faced room which was good.
At first they didn’t let us enter the premium deluxe room and asked us to stay in other room till they get it ready for us.
The deluxe room was packed with paint smell that you might choke on it, “king size mattress was put on a queen size cot” The bathroom doesn’t have hot water and its dirty.(basically its a cheap lodge, except you have to pay ₹5,000+ for it). Room service guys are rare you have to search for them as they don’t have intercom to contact when needed, even after contacting them they take hours to rectify it. To change the room that had all the faults we kept asking the manager there to do something about it, his reply was we’ll get it fixed within an hour, they didnt fix the issue, they said no rooms were available hence we all had to stay in a single room (pool faced room), where 9 of us had to use a single bathroom, at last they even demanded for the full payment including the room that was filled with paint smell. Common area accessories like pool, cycle are mediocre, cycles are all damaged few are barely usable, pool water is green. You wont get any reception there and there is no way of contacting anyone including the room service when in need, they have wifi which is slow and only available in specific spots...
