Jewel Homes — Hotel in Kerala

Jewel Homestay was absolutely perfect for us. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer and just stopped off for a day.

We had requested Diju for veg homestyle food and we were greeted by a piping hot spread of a Kerala meal served on a banana leaf. The sanctuary fence is just outside the property so we saw a malabar hornbill and lots of egrets and heard the call of a black hooded oriole in the evening as well as the morning.

It's a special kind of magic to be woken up by birdsong, and this place rewards you with that in spades!

We had come woefully unprepared but Diju arranged for the perfect guide, Danish, lent us his binoculars and rode down 40 km early in the morning to join us for our expedition.

If you get the opportunity, please ask for Danish--- he's amazing. We spotted a pair of malabar hornbills several times, a honey buzzard, a fish owl and a wide range of passerine birds including scarlet minivets, malabar parakeets, several sunbirds and woodpeckers among others.

But the highlight was something that only Danish could achieve: a rare sighting of a bay owl from just 6 feet away, and a pair of frogmouths just 4-5 feet above us....

All this was only possible because Diju went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable with each thoughtful detail that catered to our needs before we even felt it.

I can't wait to come back, and this time I'll certainly be here for longer to enjoy all the birding trails, warm hospitality and the absolute complete tranquility that is getting rarer with the inexorable...

It was this weekend, we thought of a drive to somewhere in Thattekkad. We booked 2 rooms in this resort. We went without much expectation thinking there will not be much. We reached the place as directed by Google maps.||||To our surprise, we found Mr. Diju, the owner of the homestay waiting in the front to welcome us. The checkin procedure all went out and we were alloted with two rooms. Actually there are four rooms in total for this home stay. We checked in and found all the rooms are very big and spacious. Also the ammenities was a surprise to me because it was really similar to hotel standards. Everything was kept neatly arranged and clean.||||By the time we got settled down, Mr. Diju came with the lunch. It was a fabulous lunch. While dining he explained about the nearby places and places of attraction. It was very helpful for us to find a person like that who was rendering his complete time for our comfort. He also suggested us what to have for dinner.||||||It was a nice experience overall and we really wanted to come back. Its really a home away from home.||||While visiting this place dont forget to jumpin to the swimming pool on the terrace.||Also wake up in the morning and while having coffee/tea look on the trees infront for the hornbills and many other species of birds.||||Assure you that you are not gonna ge disappointed by the decission you take to plan a holiday here.
