Kappad Beach House by Kisah Stays — Hotel in Kerala

We were a group of 4 who stayed at the Kappad Beach House for a single night on the 9th of April 2022 (booked via Airbnb). Our experiences/review for this place, is as mentioned below:

1. Communication: Unlike other property listings on Airbnb or other similar sites, where property caretakers or the owners contact you before check-in, in this case, there was absolutely no kind of interaction or responsibility taken by the caretaker before we checked in, with details of the location of this house, or even to confirm the details as to when we would arrive, as we had arrived an hour and a half late from the mentioned check-in time. Instead, we ended up calling him and getting the necessary details.
2. Cleanliness: The dustbin in one of the bedrooms had garbage left in it, from the previous customers' stay. Also, even though the property looked neat at first, we found a cockroach in one of the bathrooms (implying unhygienic or unclean conditions) which we had to chase around the bathroom and kill ourselves, as there were no roach sprays or any insecticides in the villa.
3. Hospitality: On the day we checked-in, there was a severe storm in the area during the evening, and the power in the entire area got disrupted around 6pm, and we had a blackout for about 18 hours (there was absolutely no electricity, until we checked out on the 10th at 12pm, as a tree had fallen onto the electric lines - information is as confirmed by the electric board authority in the region). Considering this was a natural and unlucky disaster, we know we can't or shouldn't complain much, as this event was unexpected. However, when the inverter ran out of power by 12am in the night, we had absolutely no backup in terms of light, leaving us with no option but to have dinner and enjoy with our friends with the help of torchlights from our cellphones. There were no candles or emergency lamps of any sort. What was worse, the caretaker never turned up to enquire if we needed any help in this situation. Again, we were the ones knocking at his door at 12:45am asking for candles, to which he responded there were none, and that, when such natural events happen in this "particular area", powercut issues were common. What we couldn't understand was that, when he was aware of such problems from his previous experiences and since he is staying there on a regular basis, he should have been more responsible to arrange a second backup for some light source (considering he knew there were really long power cuts during problematic situations), rather than let the guests struggle in pitch darkness. When you have listed a property as a home stay, please do not take the liberty to believe your guests will adjust in such dark and horrible situations. As guests for a single night, we were not expecting to spend our stay in darkness and sweat, worth Rs.13,000 (including taxes). Please be aware of hospitality first, before listing your property on Airbnb. There are better places in Calicut with greater hospitality and service, including better aesthetic and peaceful atmosphere (there are other beach houses adjacent to this property, so privacy is something which you may have to compromise a bit, if you are looking for a complete soundproof and peaceful experience), that at the end of the stay we have wished to extend our stay there, instead of checking-out. This place, however, is the worst and horrible experience we have had, and unfortunately we won't be recommending this...

Its a great place to stay at near a beach. The whole villa for one family and the beach is bang opposite where you can walk down to the shores and have fun. When we reached, house was kept clean and thanks for amazing hospitality by Anas and team that we always felt as its our second home. Anas made sure food was taken care and when we were leaving he got some stuff from outside as a parting gift :-) I feel humbled by the hospitality of the hosts.

The rooms are clean and quite sufficient for a family of four to unwind. The living room has a big sofa and netflix was available for us to watch in case we get bored of sea viewing. Kitchen is clean. Bathrooms are huge and have instant geysers fit. They have 2-3 books on history of Kerala/Calicut and thats sufficient for anyone to spend time reading. Swimming pool was clean too and good for kids and elders alike. Anas did have some of those tube for kids that kids would like to swim with. The place did have some games for kids and that was sufficient. The terrace was amazing, enough space to sit and relax with a glass of your favorite drink.

We went to Thikkodi for drive-in beach experience and it was great. Not too far. Kappad beach in itself is amazing and we dont need to go anywhere else. We also went to local market for spices and i was astonished by the hospitality there too.

Few suggestions:

1. Can arrange for microwave in kitchen, helps with quick heating.
2. Add more books to your library, get kids books also
3. Add foosball etc. on the...

Pictures don't do justice to this place, its one of the most luxurious place in Calicut and the location is top notch, Kappad beach house has all the amenties which one can not imagine be present at any hotel/stay. It has a private pool and the quality of everything present there has not been compromised at all beat rocking chairs, two big umbrellas near to the pool, Apple Marshall bluetooth music system which you will never find at any place, boomerang to play with in the very huge apartment, the beautiful sea right in front of your private pool and the terrace is so big it can accomodate at least 30 people with chairs Sofas and what not, power backup, high speed wifi big tv, super beautiful house. And now lets talk about the hosts, Fadhil hosts you with an amazing big smile, he will be there to welcome you even and make sure you are comfortable, he makes you feel like its your own house, breakfast was complimentary and super tasty, Fadhil and Shanu were amazing hosts and after visiting there I felt 2 days stay was the biggest mistake of our lives as you wouldn't even realise how fast those 2 days will get passed at Kappad beach house. We will be be re-visiting Fadhil and his amazing Beach house soon. Thanks Fadhil and Shanu for being such amazing...
