I am not sure how this property has 4 star rating in google reviews.I along with my wife had a stay on 1st January 2024 and had a very bad experience.
Firstly and most importantly- They have employed two people who age more than 70 years as their securities. On my visit I had a door bell around 4:00 pm in the evening. When I came out I saw one among the security walking through the corridor. When I came down during the dinner , I asked about the same . The person admitted that he ringed the bell and told that it was a mistake which happened from his side - that he misunderstood the room. This event itself made my wife a little shaky and frightened. Why should the security come and ring the bell and run away once we open the door?
Then after 9:00 pm we went out and came back around 10:30 p.m . I forgot the room key and my wife went out to take the same from the car- which was parked in the adjacent gated property which was locked and the key kept by this old aged person. I was waiting in the reception area and my wife who came back with the key was frightened and shaken. This old age person was behaving in a creepy way when she entered inside the gated property . He stood at the gate and started asking questions like - Are you studying? Where do you come here? Who is the person with you etc? . She was also afraid whether this guy would lock the property while she was inside.
Secondly their rooms doesn't not have proper privacy and curtains are of low quality which allow light to pass. Also the curtains doesn't cover the window completely. We can see people walking and looking inside. We felt it to a great extend because we were very much conscious and frightened due to the securities behaviour. Every footstep in the corridor used to instill fear in our minds. Also there were only one or two staffs in the property after 9 p.m - which makes the situation more vulnerable. That day both of us couldn't sleep well as well because whenever we heard footstep in the wooden floor, she gets frightened by the previous experience. The total mood was ruined by that single person.
I thought of telling them if they ask for any review while leaving- which most of the resort do now a days. But they just settled the bill and asked us to leave.
I was planning to take the photo of the person and post it here. But in the morning it was an another guy who was also aged (not at all trained people to be in hospitality industry). The property is good but the securities are creepy especially the one who was employed at night. I have never seen in any other properties where securities are given access to the rooms.
The good thing to say about the property is only the person in the reception and the food. The food was tasty and was not overpriced.
Not a place for families and women, till they are not willing to employ quality...
Read moreA small hotel, converted from what was supposedly a boat house, Samiira on Ashtamudi Lake was a decent find while looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights on the Ashtamudi Lake. The property is less than 3 kilometres from Kollam Railway Station and one can easily hire an auto-rickshaw for the transfer.||It is right on the Ashtamudi lake, with the more pompous Raviz and Allseason spotted across.||We stayed in Room 106 on the first floor of the two-storeyed building. The floor has four rooms, with the common verandah being the place to sit and enjoy the views of the lake. ||The delectable food, catering to all tastes and palates is the one facet that can more than offset a couple of negatives that I experienced during our stay.||While the rooms had ACs, there was no blanket provided, and all that was there were a couple of extra bedsheets to wrap around while sleeping. Even on being explicitly asked for, the blankets did not arrive, and all that we got were a couple more of those bed sheets. A first time experience I would have rather not had.||While the staff is usually around and delivering, they seem to get overwhelmed if the small hotel becomes a bit full, let's say with around ten odd people. This is something that we experienced during lunchtime on the day we checked out. With the arrival of a family of around 7-8 people at that time at the property, we were left waiting at the lunch table for quite some time despite being called from our rooms saying lunch is ready. And apart from we two, the newly arrived family were the only guests on the property at that time. I hope that the staff members upskill themselves soon enough to be able to handle what is supposed to be normal workload. And yes, I also expect the rooms to have blankets for a...

My visit to Samiira on Ashtamudi Lake was unfortunately marred by a series of disappointments, largely due to the rude behavior of the reception staff. From the moment I arrived, there was a palpable sense of disinterest and hostility from the reception guy, which set the tone for my entire experience.
Despite my attempts to engage politely and inquire about their products, including kitchen accessories, door and window products, plywood, and wooden flooring, I was met with curt responses and dismissive attitudes. This made it incredibly challenging to browse their offerings or seek assistance.
The overall atmosphere of the shop was unwelcoming, with an evident lack of customer service and professionalism. It felt as though my presence was an inconvenience rather than an opportunity for business. This was particularly disheartening as I had heard positive reviews about their products and was keen to explore their range.
In addition to the poor customer service, I found the shop's layout to be disorganized and confusing, further adding to the frustration of my visit. It was evident that little effort was made to showcase their products effectively or create a pleasant shopping experience.
Overall, my visit to Samiira on Ashtamudi Lake was a waste of time, and I would not recommend it to others. The combination of rude behavior, lackluster customer service, and disorganized layout left me thoroughly...
