We recently stayed at this property with family, booking four rooms. Here’s our experience:
Location: 2.5/5 The building is situated in a remote area with a very narrow road from the main road, barely allowing one SUV to pass at a time. There’s no space for two vehicles to pass, requiring one to reverse at least 500 meters to find any clearance. The approach road is in very poor condition.
View: 4/5 The topmost rooms (502 to 504) offer an open view of the tea valley.
Welcome Experience: 1/5 The welcome drink was among the worst we’ve had. There wasn't a single smiling face to greet us, and the staff seemed trained to avoid being friendly or cooperative. Checking in took a long time as they required ID cards for all members and took ages to scan them. We felt like unwelcome intruders rather than guests.
Landscape: 2/5 The landscaping is poor. Many services are offered in name only, seemingly to mock the guests. The tree house, with a view of two banana plants, rates a 0.5/5. The kids’ area has one seesaw and one slide, both seemingly maintained decades ago. The swimming pool, better described as an open mini water tank with one floating tube, had a non-functional shower nearby.
Room Layout: 2/5 Navigating the rooms felt like a maze from Takeshi's Castle, seemingly designed to be as confusing as possible.
Rooms: 3/5 The rooms are large but not well-maintained for the price. They have small, not-so-clean washrooms.
Games and Activities Area: 1/5 Another disappointment. There’s a hall with a chess board missing pieces, a carrom board, and a TT table. The hall doubles as a storage area for old furniture.
Campfire: 0/5 You’re better off watching a campfire video on YouTube. The setup was pathetic, with no proper fire, no warmth, and a poor speaker system that seemed designed to drive guests away.
Restaurant: 1/5 The food is priced at nearly three times what you’d pay for better quality in town, which is a 20-minute drive away. The main chef behaved like a prison warden, treating guests poorly. The hospitality was non-existent.Food taste is OK - average. Breakfast was substandard.
Overall Experience: 1/5 Only visit this place if you want to test your patience, waste your money, endure the worst hospitality, and spoil your...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Tea Valley Resorts in Munnar, and it was a unique experience in the heart of the tea valley. The property's location is truly amazing, nestled amidst the lush tea plantations, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
The food at Tea Valley Resorts is a delight for the taste buds. The delicious dishes they serve, especially the local cuisine, make your stay even more enjoyable. The culinary experience was a highlight of the trip.
The service at the resort is good with the staff being attentive and courteous.
While my stay was enjoyable, I did notice that the room cleanliness could use some improvement. It was not up to the mark, and this is an area where the resort could enhance the guest experience significantly.
Additionally, I observed that the overall maintenance of the property needs some attention. However, I shared this feedback with the hotel staff, and they assured me that renovation work had already begun, which is a positive step towards addressing these issues.
I also noticed some issues with the basic amenities provided in the rooms. These are essential aspects of a comfortable stay, and their absence or subpar quality was somewhat disappointing. The absence of face towels, cutlery, umbrella and the quality of bathing liquid in the rooms were notable drawbacks. Addressing these basic amenities can greatly improve the overall guest experience at the resort and ensure a more comfortable and convenient stay for visitors.
In conclusion, Tea Valley Resorts is an excellent place to stay for its stunning location, delicious food, and good service. With a focus on improving room cleanliness and overall property maintenance, it has the potential to be an even more remarkable destination...
Read moreI stayed here for 2 nights, with my family including parents and my kids. The drive for the final 2 kms is through narrow plantation kuccha roads, as is the case with many such properties away from the hustle and bustle of Munnar town. The property itself is at a good location and built in eco friendly manner. The staff were quite friendly and room service response was prompt. They have a covered fire-place / barbeque area and I can imagine it will be a great facility, if we come with a large group of friends or extended family. The rooms were well appointed and good size, but the walls and doors could do with a fresh coating of paint and upkeep. The door handles and edges were close to falling apart. As we booked last minute due to unforeseen cancellation of another property, we did not have the option of a meals inclusive plan. I did ask about this option at check-in, but was told that as I had booked online, through a third party app, I could not avail this. The rates are a bit dear, for example simple vanilla / strawberry ice cream was charged at 150 + taxes per bowl. The buffet breakfast was fresh, but choices were limited and was charged at 300 + taxes per person. Other than this, overall experience was good. I had originally booked for 3 nights, but with the over priced captive food pricing, we thought its best to leave earlier. There are places that one would visit once and have a good time, but might not visit again and there are places that one would come back to again and again. This property is the former kind.
Pros - Good location and views, good staff and service, well appointed eco property. Cons - over-priced average quality food, rooms need a bit of updating, feels...
