Jai Palace — Hotel in Kodaikanal

We had booked 4 rooms and were allotted 3 rooms on the ground floor and 1 on the first floor.

Pros:

The rooms were excellent. The wooden furniture added a charming touch and created a cozy, elegant atmosphere.

Cons:

Hot Water: While 24/7 hot water is available, the geyser takes a very long time to heat. It took around 30–35 minutes just to fill one bucket, which was quite inconvenient and time-consuming.

Food & Beverages: Although we hadn’t opted for meals, we requested morning tea/coffee. Unfortunately, the caretaker, Surya,refused most days and instead told us to walk 500 meters to the nearest tea shop. This response was disappointing, especially for a homestay, where a basic beverage service should be expected.

Location: The property is located far from the main market, which means food delivery apps like Swiggy or Zomato do not service this area. It's important to plan accordingly.

Hospitality & Amenities: Basic essentials like soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, towels, and even drinking water were not provided. Guests are expected to bring these themselves, which felt lacking in terms of...

I would not recommend this place for families, especially if you’re booking just a single room. During our stay, a group of bachelors was accommodated, and they created absolute chaos. They partied late into the night, with loud music and yelling continuing until around 1:30 am. While I did inform the manager, and the loud music eventually reduced, the group continued screaming and being extremely loud, making it impossible to get any rest.

It’s basic common sense for the management to avoid placing families near such groups, but that wasn’t considered here.

On the positive side, the rooms were decent, and the location was convenient. However, the views were average and didn’t make up for the disturbance.

Great place to stay in kodaikanal. We loved the spacious bedrooms with amazing decor and custom furniture. The staff onsite were really co operative and ensured our stay was perfect in every way imaginable. The facility seemed very new and was maintained really well. One of our kids needed some medicine and the onsite staff immediately went to the pharmacy and brought us the medicines we needed.
