Costel — Hotel in Maharashtra

Will not recommend for groups, place only good for solo travellers or to spend the night. Groups would face lot of rules and restrictions ruining their trip.

Issues faced - Basic amenities like HOT WATER was missing. Geyser was not working. Only one out of 2 AC's worked properly, Ac is unable to cool room during daytime. Two fans work at very slow speed people sleeping on bottom bunk bed would suffer in heat. Just one washroom for full capacity of 12 people. Spare washroom downstairs was just a toilet for the caretaker which was unhygienic. Half your time is wasted lining up for the washroom. We were promised paid food, on arrival was informed that cook is not there, so not even tea was available and has to go outside for everything. Owner knew were coming there for sole purpose of water sports, still did not inform us that water sports has stopped for the season and even after asking multiple times misguided us asking that water sports is on. I guess its all business for them. We booked 10 and were told that the whole room would belong to us and would have privacy. But any one would spring up at 10 or 11 pm in the night to occupy the remaining 2 beds and one bed room. Bedroom is fine we did not book it but we were not informed that we would need to share room with 2 strangers or else would not book it. Even after several complaints on above issues, not even once owner came to check on us.

Unwelcoming Front Desk: The staff appeared disinterested and lacked hospitality. The owner did not inform us about the closure of sports activities, despite intentionally instructing us to come.

Inadequate Facilities: Only one washroom was provided for a group of 10 people. The alternative washroom downstairs was unhygienic.

Faulty Air Conditioning: One air conditioner was not functioning properly, and the other was extremely slow.

Inconvenient Location: The hotel is inconveniently distant from all beaches, especially Tarkali Beach.

Uncomfortable Accommodation: The presence of a room keeper made our stay uncomfortable.

Lack of Communication: We were not informed about the availability of an extra room. The promised lunch and dinner were not provided.

Electricity Fluctuations: We experienced frequent power fluctuations...

Costel is good for solo travellers who would stay for a night. They have some strict rules like no eating in dormitory even during hot weather outside, privacy issue bcoz their chotu will sleep inside room at nights making females a bit uncomfortable. Unavailability of food, even breakfast were not provided, paid un-paid both. During the afternoon’s hot weather, both of their A/Cs won’t cool you down. Plus you will be staying 7/8kms away from tarkarli beach making it difficult for you to go over there since you won’t be getting any autos after evening. It’s good only if you wanted to stay overnight or you just need a place to sleep, otherwise you won’t be comfortable with their policies. Costel may be good for your pocket but Its not a good place to spend...
