Well, Mrs Shirke ( apparently the owner) is a work of art and single handedly manages to be a disgrace to the entire hospitality industry of Tarkarli. We had driven from Pune with kids and luggage in the car and initially she wouldn't let our car to come up to the reception at all. Even while it was raining badly she expected us to park up a few 100 feet away and walk up. We had to literally force the guard to let the car through to the reception because of the rain. Then she couldn't find our deposit paid booking so she said it is our responsibility to carry a confirmation. 5 min into the conversation, she said 'I have been telling you this for half an hour!' This annoyed us as we had done nothing to be treated this way other than arriving with a deposit paid, advance reservation made directly with the hotel a month ago, which she couldn't find despite presenting her the UPI proof of payment and the name on the booking.
Upon asking to see a manager or owner ( as her attitude was unbecoming of one!) she started asking the guards to throw us out. When I pulled out my phone camera to record her and pointed out to her that her body language has been caught on her own security camera, she immediately backtracked! When the rest of our group arrived she did eventually find the booking They didn't send any confirmation email in the first place, at all despite gladly banking the payment. But boy an apology was simply too precious to come by.
This was undoubtedly the grandest welcome we have ever received at any hotel in the world.
Update in repsonse to the owner: Thanks for vindicating my review in every way. Only a mind that needs some serious help would be offended by and describe "Mam, are u the owner? Can we talk to the manager/owner? Or "You need to learn to be more welcoming to your guests" as filth.
The 'restricted area' is a paved driveway leading to the reception and rooms that she denies guests access for unloading and loading whether it's raining or not. Her staff had no such objection while loading in the morning.
Mr. Bhojwani is a very gracious person and yet would never apologise for this. ( Mrs. Shirke also called him up to get my review removed!). He only diffused the situation as we didn't want to be in the situation of hunting for 4 rooms elsewhere in the rain at night! If it wasn't for this predicament and if we weren't part of a group then we would have simply walked out of there!
The rest of the staff for extremely courteous and to the fortune of Mrs. Shirke probably helps keep up the ratings for this place. Mrs. Shirke herself on the other clearly finds herself in the...
Read moreWe celebrated Deepavali festival of Oct. 2022 at Grande Vista Tarkarli. It has been the most memorable vacation for my family. While writing this review I reflect in ditto the grandeur of property, quality of service, hospitality etc.. as narrated by the guests who visited earlier.
We arrived at the hotel earlier than the check-in time. We were welcomed by Smt. S. Shirke-ji (the owner) made us comfortable and offered breakfast and a refreshing hot cup of tea. Rooms were assigned well in time. Super deluxe rooms on the first floor are super large having spick-and-span bathroom and spacious sea facing balcony with superb furniture. The service staff were polite, efficient and available at the beck and call.
Our greatest joy was in having delicious food – breakfast, lunch as well as dinner -cooked to our demanding needs of moderately spicy, vegetarian and the least hot (chilli).
High speed WiFi was available all the time. The lawns are well manicured and the trees are lush green. The Path leading to Tarkarli beach is private, safe and well tiled. Local area sightseeing was organised through reliable operator.
During the early morning boat ride, we witnessed the lovable Sangaam of mighty Arabian Sea with ashy looking Karli River. Good luck was to bestow upon us, we saw a school of Dolphins - jumping and dancing, historical Tsunami Island, Vengurla (the Swift island) having a navigational lighthouse. Many more sightseeing places in Tarkarli. A few photographs captured by us substantiate our expressions.
We shall return to this hotel in the future for a longer duration. (Note: Do booking in advance. On arrival show patience and respect to the owner/manager and the staff; it pays rich dividends to make your stay the most...
Read moreI have travelled to around 30 countries in the world and have always believed that guests in India are treated with warmth, respect and welcomed with a smile. I was let down and proven shockingly wrong by the owner of Grande Vista Tarkarli, Mrs. Shirke. The double gated entrance to this hotel was shut in heavy rains and we had to open the gates ourselves and make our way to the reception. It took sometime to share the booking confirmation with her as we were travelling in a group of 3 cars but Mrs. SHIRKE'S attitude was appalling to say the least. She was neither polite nor showed any empathy despite knowing that we had travelled a long distance with 2 kids. But instead outrightly asked us to get out of the premises in heavy rain until we showed her proof of confirmation. All our attempts to assure her that our group had a confirmation were futile. When the entire group made their way into the hotel in the next 15 mins and all got sorted, she still did not budge and never apologize once for her obnoxious behavior. It was around 6 30 pm in the evening. Upon checking in, she also mentioned that kitchen was not prepared to serve us dinner that evening and did not offer any guidance to figure out dinner arrangements. She could not offer sea facing rooms as per our original booking and asked us to leave the hotel and that she would refund the amount. The entire place was empty with no guests other than us. Yet she seemed arrogant and instead wanted us to apologize to her if we wanted to stay in her hotel. I hope my review is seen by the MTDC as she clearly was out of line and needs intensive training in hospitality industry and...
