I always research before booking a hotel. I booked Happy Days after a lot of research. I had read reviews on tripadvisor and Google as well.||||I booked hotel some 2 months prior at a decent price of Rs.1100 by giving Rs. 3000 as advance. We went in the end of May. We were three couples and there were only three rooms in the cottage so we booked all of them for two days. ||||The owner picked us from Suvarna Ganesh Temple which is located in Diveagar. The property is bit difficult to locate but the location is perfect. You can see beautiful beach just by standing inside the property. property was kept neat and clean. It was amazing experience. ||||The owner Mr. Prasad, a very friendly person made our warm welcome and showed the rooms. The rooms were average with a small bed and attached washrooms. Nothing else in room except a bed, fan and small table. The bed and bedsheets were very average and nothing impressive in the room. To TV, no A/C, no cupboard to keep bags. Very average.||||We got into room to get fresh. As soon as I entered room, I could observe that the cleanliness was not upto the mark. I could see that the dirt on the bed. There was a small CFL bulb which hardly gave us visible light. I entered the washroom and saw a big 6 inch spider hovering above the ceiling. I never saw such a big and scary spider in my life.||||We brought food from outside as we didnt want to eat homemade thali. We had lunch in this beautiful property covered with coconut trees. There were lots of cats and dogs roaming around out table while eating. To our surprise, the owner charged us Rs. 100 for using the plates and utensils for eating the outside food. This was too much. The table that we used for eating was cleaned only after telling the owner. ||||We planned to rest for a while and go to the beach in evening. It was very hot outside so we switched on the fan. It was very slow and we could not sleep in the heat so we told the owner. He arranged a table fan for us which was looking 50 years old and didn't switch on at all. I told him, he checked and said that he will fix it in 5 mins which he didn't. We couldn't sleep properly due to fan problem and also there were many small insects coming from the top of the room which disturbed our sleep very often. We also had our baby with us who could sleep properly. In short we couldn't have satisfactory rest in afternoon which we needed badly after a long travelling. We then prepared to go to beach in evening and locked the room. The lock and the key was rust from all the possible angles. ||||The owner fixed the fan problem in the evening but not upto my satisfaction. In the night too, we brought food parcel from outside and again Rs. 100 was charged to us. There were scary spiders outside the rooms too. We saw many of them. I wonder what could happen if it bit us or our baby.||||Apart from all the problems, the location made our trip memorable. We could go to the beach at any time we want. We went there in night and in early morning (sipping our coffee) as well to see the sunrise. The location was unbeatable. ||||Except location, the cottage does not give value for money.||The property has great potential for growth and becoming popular only if owner takes serious steps to take care...
Read moreLocation: The only place which offers beach view right from your room, beach is just opposite 50 steps from the beach.
Staff: really good and happy to help with everything.
Service: Since it’s a homestay expect minimal room service. You can go downstairs and they have a small restaurant like set up and they will provide everything. Upon request, they do provide water, tea some food in room. For breakfast, dinner you may have to go down which should be totally fine.
Room: Rooms were of average size with AC and big clean washroom, no complaints.
Cleanliness: Property was clean and no insects etc. No complaints.
Food: Food is average and can be improved but we could manage with it. Since everything else was good.
Overall, experience was quite good with the stay, Rates are 4500-5500 for one room (2 people) which is slightly on higher side but if you see other options in Diveagar this is a much better option with these rates. You can see waves and hear waves from your room, as soon as you wake up you can see waves without getting up from the bed 🤠which is a very good feeling specially in early morning. Beach is just opposite and it is little far (800-900 meters) from main beach so you get private space which is not very crowded but all water sports are there right in front. You can go beach side and sit there watching waves at late night as well which would not be possible with main beach. aah such a good feeling.
Note: There are many properties in Diveagar which claims that 200 mts or 500 mts from beach but any of them don’t offer beach view. Just see the pictures and...
Read moreI have been going to Happy Days since 2017, when it was much smaller compared to the current establishment. The main reasons why it is my preferred hotel when I go to Diveagar: Location: right in front of the sea. Rooms: Airy, well ventilated, well lit. Each room has sea view. AC works fine. Each room has geyser. Toilet is actually very big and clean. Toiletries including towels are provided. Parking: Dedicated safe parking space Service: staff is very helpful and polite. I was traveling with my infant and they accomodated my special requests without any fuss. The manager Dhanraj and staff including Mama, Rohan are very courteous. Policy: They accommodate mostly family guests and drinking/loud music is not allowed on the property. So it is ideal for families. Food: Veg and chicken thali was good. Haven't tried the fish thali. Surmai fry and pomfret fry was decent. Breakfast could be a little better, but it is not a deal breaker.
Areas of improvement: Kids play area, so that they can be engaged when not playing on the beach. Green lawn with benches or hammocks for guests to relax and chill in their free time. If 1 and 2 are done, then it will give a proper resort feel. In summary, it is one of the best stay options in Diveagar...
