Honestly this has been one of my best stays at MTDC. But in Google itself, there are mixed reviews about this resort. Also confusion about location. Let me clarify in some points: Location: This is the nearest MTDC guest house to Ajanta Caves. There used to be a 5 cottage MTDC guest house near to the Ajanta shuttle bus service but that is under renovation for some time now. This resort is 1.5km distant from the shuttle bus stand. Auto/Car charges 50 per person to ferry passengers to the pick up point. Other than the proximity to the Caves, there is nothing. A petrol pump and some roadside snacks stall. No medicine shop, restaurants etc. Rooms: There are AC and non AC rooms. But the non AC rooms are better to book and stay. The resort itself is very old, I think early 90s or even before that. Hence some renovations has been done recently, but only in the non AC section. So these rooms are not damp, dirty or moldy like the AC ones. Also, all the rooms' ceiling height are well above 11feet, so you won't need an AC even in humid August nights. Only hotel I struck gold by booking a non AC room. 😆 Amenities: You will get 2 towels & soap with your room. No tea kit, shower kit etc. The rooms are basic too. Geyser working but exhaust fan not working. Bed & pillow cover not totally clean. But the room was clean and newish, so I didn't complain. Restuarant: The restaurant only serves breakfast (included with room tariff) and dinner. Evening tea, snacks can be ordered but after 6pm. Room service is not great. Food is not cheap either. Better to go to the restaurant for your food. Other perks: There are plenty of parking available and also a kid's park. So no issues about parking or the kids...
Read moreOther than location this government facility has nothing which can make your holiday joyfull . cons : we were allocated on room no 14 AC cottages . The room was having leakage celling on the toilet . The leakage was absolutely on top of the commode and it was not possible to use it . As usual staffs has their own excuse . there is no lunch facility available at this property. If you have elderly or pregnant lady accompanying who cannot walk full day at Ajanta and decide to stay at this resort they have no food option . Someone has to walk around 1 km on highway to get to nearest radhakrishna dhaba we were shifted on room 9 when we complain but the geyser was not operational on that cottage though there are menu for breakfast but on complementary you will only get poha or upma . you cannot have bread and omelet as complementary. The room was newly painted and there was no proper cleaning and paints were scattered everywhere.
Pros: Location is the only advantage for this stay .
Summary : As a standard government facility this location has very poor maintenance and the manager seems have no accountability . We asked reception to meet the manager and have a discussion with but seems he was busy and never bothered to meet and understand the problem.. if you get some other accommodation nearby you can consider else book this properly and accept...

We checked in around 12:10 AM. An old man and a security guard waited for us and helped with our luggage. We had mistakenly booked non-AC rooms through MakeMyTrip, but when we asked if we could switch to AC rooms, they informed us that the non-AC rooms were actually better because the AC rooms were under renovation. They said if we still wanted AC rooms, they could provide them for an extra charge. Since it had rained that evening and the weather was pleasant, we decided to stick with the non-AC rooms.
The next morning during breakfast, the restaurant staff refused to serve us an omelette and bread butter toast. My brother and I just wanted a light breakfast. Although we could see the bread, he said, "Bread butter nahin hoga kyunki abhi bohut jan hain!!" (There won't be any bread butter because there are too many people right now!). He insisted we eat what was already prepared: poha, puri, and upma. When we asked to call the manager and threatened to complain to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation head office in Aurangabad, he finally agreed to serve us bread butter and omelettes. I never thought in my life that I would have to fight for an omelette and bread butter!
Otherwise, it’s a good hotel. I shouldn’t judge the entire staff based on one...
