Odyssey's Latara Homestay — Hotel in Meghalaya

The rooms were pretty small but I expected that. So no surprise there. The location was good as per my choice, right in the center of Sohra town with all shops etc in just half a minute. Challenge was with the service at the Homestay. I was told that breakfast and dinner are available for a charge. Not a single day the host offered or asked about breakfast and I also didn't feel like calling them up to ask for breakfast. Infact, most of the times the host didn't pick the phone during daytime nor called back. Sohra is a late rising town and no shops open for breakfast before 10am. Dinner was available, but options limited, which was expected but on the night of 25th Dec, when I called the host checking on dinner availability, she mentioned they were going out and requested us to have dinner outside. Unfortunately, being Christmas, all shops but 2, were shut and the ones open had huge crowds queing outside, mostly passing tourists. So very soon the shops ran out of food. Food is a challenge. Plus no one cared to ask if the rooms had to be cleaned, towels changed or waste bins cleared, till I asked them once. Staying for a night or 2, one can manage but I stayed for 4 nights, with family. However, I must thank the host when my son fell sick at night, with diarrhea, they were quick to react and sent a few medicines, warm water and ORS. A big thanks for that. So I had really High Hope from the pictures of the room in the website. And the person while Booking was very helpful too, thus the 2 stars( not for the room, it doesnt deserve 1 star)

Coming to the rooms, the room was small, but i didnt have any problem- The room had damp throughout it, the whole roof was damped that is unhygenic(pics attached) The bedsheet given was torn, and was only changed once told- How can you give a torn bedsheet to your guests?(Video attached) We arrived there on Sunday, and cherrapunji market is closed on Sunday we didnt knee that- To our surprise the homestay also told they cannot provide any food either as they are closed today! really? you are running a homestay and you are unable to provide guests with option to eat? I had to go outside on the empty market and eat whatever garbage was there. The toilet seat at the commode Toilet was such loose that it was falling on us every time we sear! I mean can you imagine? Seating at a toilet and the dirty commode seat is Falling on your back every time! The wifi was down throughout the stay, even requesting multiple time to fix it was not fixed- though I dont care about this much as in the travel, out of network I am ok with. And oh only one CFL in the room.

I had booked this place as I felt the view from the place is great! However, the view is only from terrace and that too after editing lots of wires in between can we get such good photos! Next comes the room, which was terrible.I had booked a single room.The room had no space for passage of air to pass, no basic amenities like a water bottle or a glass or a geyser in the chilling weather. Everytime you have to use the toilet you have to heat the water in immersion heater and then use. For drinking water you have to literally request them no. of times. It is under the supervision of quite a young person who is trying her best but this place , the location just was not the type for a relaxing vacation. I was clearly overwhelmed by the 'edited' pictures. It can be easily chosen as a pit stop for riders for a night but if you are on a vacation I won't recommend this place at all! It is clearly not a home stay but a lodge! The MOST ANNOYING part is their constant nagging for tagging them in pictures and videos that you have clicked and posting on your personal profile!!
