We stayed in Pristine Beach Resort on a fishing trip.
Pros: The resort looks nice. There is a nice restaurant area and a bar (which we did not visit). The cottage rooms that we stayed in are relatively spacious.
The food was good. The kitchen is clean and the chapati was good and hot.
The room air-conditioning was strong with a fan. The toilet has a good exhaust fan and insect screens to avoid insects entering the toilet.
The resort boss Mr Alex and his son Ajit were courteous and welcoming.
Resort staff are generally friendly and obliging. The resort generously went out of their way to allow our group members to cook our home foods in their kitchen.
Cons:
Being an outdoor resort, there are inevitably small insects in the room, but there were a number of small booklice and small insects on the bedsheets. Generally harmless but they did make me a bit uncomfortable. Could have done with some vacuuming.
We did not have housekeeping done the first day as we kept our room keys. The staff politely informed us that if we wanted our rooms cleaned, we should give them the keys when we go out in the day. We did that the next day but we still did not have our rooms cleaned and we gave up, although I believe the staff would have been happy to do so if we had requested it.
There is no facial tissue paper (boxes) in the rooms. There was no toilet paper but they did deliver us small rolls of toilet paper on request.
Mosquitoes are everywhere outdoors at night but this is an issue that seems endemic to the Andaman Islands and the resort cannot be specifically faulted for it.
The walk to the beach at night is unlit and we came across a small snake on the path so do bring a light and walk slowly if visiting. The rocky beach was not as nice as we had been told and we were a bit disappointed.
Overall we had a good stay and would recommend Pristine Beach...

OK kind of option in diglipur. Good ambience with multiple swings and garden. This is the only economical option in private hotel. But service was horrible. Bad food especially vegetarians will find it very difficult. U need to remind them for towel, blanket and water. Complimentary breakfast will get over soon then u have to manage with bread jam. Anyways even during year end I received idly at best that too bad in taste.
Better to take your own all-out and odomos for mosquitoes.
Gala dinner was the worst part of my experience. I was forcefully charged 1000 per person. Local people called for the party at the cheaper price of 700. Food was very bad. Again for vegetarians it was non tolerable. In fact the sweets like kheer and rasgulla was utter bad in taste. Light and music was for name sake. Don't expect some hifi disco where all couples will dance on floor. For us it turned out to be staring at each other. People were arranged for Local Andaman dance. I thought this will get over within an hour but it continued throughout. The height was on the new year Eve every one left by 12.10am.
Beach is quite far which is not visible from hotel. That too this beach is muddy so you cannot enjoy .
But the best part is on that night turtle came for laying eggs and I was lucky to see that. For this credit goes to our driver Mr Suresh who informed us on time.
If diglipur is in your itinerary than you can seriously think about staying at rangat. But if you do so the early morning freshness at Ross and Smith island will go. But it's manageable.
I would suggest to start early morning from pb and reach diglipur same day after watching limestone caves. Next day Ross and Smith island then rest. Next day early morning start for pb and reach...
Read moreExcellent food way beyond our expectations. The ingredients tasted fresh and the balance of flavours were just right. The resort itself is beautiful, full of trees and the cottages are aesthetically designed and comfortable. The owner Alex is very warm and has a lot of knowledge about the surrounding ecosystem , flora, fauna.
Also the driver/guide he recommended- Vicky/Sanjay was a gem of a person and made our long tiresome car journey so smooth, peaceful and was keen to ensure our comfort. He was always on time, organised all the permits, proactive in informing about everything, painted a realistic picture and gently told us to follow the rules. An amazing guy to travel with, 10 stars out of 5 to him. Please ask for him if going by road to diglipur
The best part is everything you get access to by staying in Diglipur A trip to ross and smith island, untouched, magical, pristine blue waters that are a delight to swim in, walk around in and just take in all that beauty A boat ride to craggy island in the sunset where you would be the only people for miles around (hard to find a boat but the owner helps arrange it, do tell him in advance) Saddle peak forest - even if you don’t do the whole trek, the hike to the base is amazing with streams to cross and bathe in , the ocean and beach on one side and the forest on the other, a unique tropical experience for sure The starry skies and the beach 100 m away is a great bonus If you go during november or december you may get to see turtle nesting also!
The only slight con is that the power does go off when it rains for a few hours, but the cottages are fairly cool and in winter it should be okay (Andaman does have a bit of unpredictable weather and rains comes and...
