On my way from Jalandhar to Mohali, checked google for a decent business hotel in Mohali and Treebo showed. Interestingly, it looked like a chain of hotels and when I saw the price, I almost dismissed it for being on the cheaper side.
I was hesitant to pay online and even called the customer care to check if they had clean facilities. :-P. I was a bit embarrassed with that.
I got here and the location I would say isn't prime. Street hawkers and street food going about their business and a lot of their customers not using the bins provided.
When I entered the hotel, it was a pleasant surprise. The staff, very courteous, maybe not the best English, knew what they had to do. There wasn't a boss overlooking them and each and everyone had their designated jobs and it also seemed like everyone did everything, and in today's horizontal workforce, it seemed efficient and dynamic.
The staff had proper modern casual t shirt based uniforms, that were clean and pressed and the check-in was a breeze. Besides the antiquated government required visitor record that every guest must fill with a copy of the ID, staff had a pad that worked behind the scenes for booking etc. I liked the attitude immediately.
I got a fantastic rate equal to that of three pints of beer at the Bombay airport and was expecting much less. I thought i would get to the hotel and upgrade to the higher end room should I not be satisfied.
Upon getting to the room, I always check the bathroom first and I really felt embarrassed asking the call centre guy if they had clean facilities.
This was way above average with separate wet and dry areas and the toilets immaculate.
The restaurant want a drag either. Had two very well mannered kitchen staff through a glass kitchen wall so we, the customer, can see what's happening. I think this prompts the kitchen staff to be cleaner??
The restaurant has a pool table right in the centre and reminded me of the backpacking hostel days.
The rates - as much as a backpacker hostel private room and facilities that of a higher end clean hotel. I would recommend this hotel to my mum, who is, for lack of a better word, anal about cleanliness/hygiene.
For curiosity I checked the higher end room and wholla, a suite that has a separate hosting area with a dining table. All clean and arranged well.
Lest I forget, the beds for this price normally is a wooden frame with a 4" mattress, but not at the Treebo Ocean. It has a very comfortable 1 foot bed on a good bed frame and I slept very well.
I only hope that for this price range, the hotel can maintain the facilities to what it is and should I do come back for my stay in a few months I am not disappointed.
The blankets/duvet covers need pressing and the guy shouldn't have asked me to hear tea in the hot water kettle. Despite these, Treebo -...
Read moreValue for Money.. Best Stopover en-route McLeod/Manali I stayed at this Hotel for one night, as a stopover, on my way to Dharamsala. The hotel is located in the Mohali Industrial Area, around 2 kms away from the highway to Anandpur Sahib. The locality is sort of a small town with old kind of houses and a huge ground in the front. We reached the hotel around 10.45 PM and the hotel staff (on our request) waited for us to arrive and didn't close their kitchen. We were allotted 2 rooms on the 3rd floor and the LIFT WAS NOT WORKING (as they did not want someone to get stuck in the lift, a very surprising statement). Though the staff helped us with lifting the luggage to our rooms but climbing so many stairs with infants was a task especially after a 5 hr continuous drive. The hotel is kind of newly built, with tidy interiors and was decently maintained. The rooms were nice, clean, big, spacious with the bed, the mattress and the quilts nicely done. The bathroom to our surprise was even better when compared to the looks of the room. The food quality was good (we ordered veg only) and the room service was pretty quick but the food rates were on a little higher side. Hot milk was available for the infants and was delivered quickly by the room service guys. We had a decent sleep and had requested the manager to get the breakfast ready a bit early in the morning. To my surprise the 'Included Breakfast' was not a buffet, but we had a choice to make either from Paranthas, Sandwiches or Bread Omelettes and that too, limited quantity. This was a bit disappointing. Considering the price I paid for the 2 rooms, I would call it a Value for Money hotel (Thanks to all the discounts offered by Goibibo). If you are considering a night stay in/around Chandigarh en-route your journey to Dharamsala/Manali, with minimum deviation from your original route, there is nothing better you can get at such a low price. Else, there is no good reason for a traveller...
Read moreIf you are in transit and need to stay overnight at Chandigarh/Mohali, then this hotel offers a great deal.||||The location is terrible, 100 mtrs. off the main road into a small downmarket lane. Raw unkempt land in front of the hotel with stray cows and small downmarket shops around the hotel. The gentry in the area is not the best, but this is not an issue at all.||||The Rooms are fairly spacious, comfortable beds, clean linen, nice bath area, TV, free Wifi and breakfast (if the cook arrives on time, else you may have to wait a bit). The A/C is good. Friendly and accommodating staff. ||||Good value place for a transit stay, else you could get better located hotels on the main road itself, but then you would pay about 50...
