Hotel Mahal — Hotel in Punjab

We have stayed at Hotel Mahal over 6/7 years ago when it was new and loved it so we decided to come back. We were in complete shock to see the state of the hotel. Clearly the owners of the hotel believe the banqueting facilities are more important than refurbishing the hotel rooms. At first we were given a smoking room which after much arguing and being told all rooms have guests that smoke in them (there was an ashtray in one room but not the non smoking). Each rooms bathrooms were disgusting. They haven't been updated for years and at the risk of guests health the shower curtains had mould on them. The rooms were damp you could see the plaster work peeling. The electrical sockets were falling apart. The tv in one room only had three programmes on it (the other 100). The wifi would come and go, I had problems with the wifi (it connected and then would not reconnect) and complained. I was told by the manager it was my phone and not the wifi despite clearly showing there was no internet connection and was a problem with the server. He was rude and unhelpful. Overall the whole experience put me off even returning to Ludhiana. I would think twice before booking here especially as they charged us more for a clean, modern...

In a nutshell, if one can have a choice of finding other places in the same price, this should not be booked at all. The room we were given had no toiletries, complementary water, hand towel, only one towel, no shower curtains. As per the management, there is no concept of shower curtain their washrooms. Well, there is no shower tub, it is just the way they constructed the floor. The rooms are spacious but what would one do with them if there are no proper amenities. Complementary breakfast is no good either-less options and no proper service. Poha was hard to chew for both the days we stayed. During the first day, we got coffee instead of the tea we ordered. (Even though there were only four people for breakfast, wonder why they got it wrong). Pranthas were not warm enough. ||||And I guess Management does not care about the bad reviews they receive on various websites, otherwise they could have amended...

Worst hotel I have been to in my life. The price of their room are exorbitant and the service is abysmal. They charged 4500 rupees for a single room and none of the basic amenities like shaving kit, slippers and toiletries were provided. The temperature of the room was chilly and to my surprise, there wasn't any heater. After requesting two times, they gave me an uncleaned blanket. The whole staff was unprofessional and stopped responding to my multiple requests to clean the room. Besides, their TVs had the worst satellite connection. It was a horrible experience living there despite spending such amount of money. If you are reading this review, please never consider staying in this hotel as there are myriad other better places to stay at economical prices...
