Think Twice Before Booking: A Nightmarish & Unsafe Experience at This Hotel!
We stayed at this hotel during our visit to the Jagannath Temple and booked both a suite and an executive room for two nights. While the low price of the suite initially raised doubts about the service quality, I mentally prepared myself for average amenities — but what unfolded was far beyond mere disappointment. It was harassment, mismanagement, and a complete disregard for basic safety.
Harassing Calls at 2:30 AM:
On the last night of our stay, at around 2:30 AM, the in-room phone in our suite (us 2 sisters were staying) rang multiple times with harassing, sexually inappropriate comments. Simultaneously, our parents — staying in the room next door — also received a suspicious call on their in-room phone.
Our immediate thought — how is it that only our two rooms were targeted?
Were there hidden cameras? Was this premeditated? Are guests, especially women, not safe here?
The Hotel's Appalling Response:
We rushed to the reception and reported the incident. Initially, the staff assured us the source of the calls would be traced, promising a clear answer by 9 AM (this entire conversation is video recorded).
But come morning, they backtracked, claiming they lacked the software to trace internal calls. This is both laughable and deeply suspicious — most hotels operate on PBX (Private Branch Exchange) systems which do log room-to-room calls. So either:
Their system is dangerously outdated, or
They were trying to cover up something, possibly shielding someone from within their own team.
Instead of showing concern or taking accountability, they made vague guesses — saying “maybe a student from a school group staying at the property” — without any evidence of such a group even being there in the name of guest confidentiality.
However, we also understood that it’s the hotel norms and we were calm, respectful, and simply asked for one thing:
Confirm where the call came from — guest room or staff line.
That’s it. Not personal info, not confrontation. Just clarity.
They couldn’t do that. And that speaks volumes.
Now Let’s Talk About the Suite Itself:
Dirty toilet seats and stained bedsheets.
No lights in the powder room
Filthy cupboards and floor mats worse than those in Mumbai chawls.
Food service was pathetic — repeated reminders were needed to get even the basics.
We were called 3 times by the staff throughout the day asking when we’d arrive— only to find the rooms were still being cleaned last-minute!
After the 2:30 AM incident, those excessive calls from staff earlier in the day also started to feel suspicious in hindsight.
My Final Word:
I overlooked the hygiene issues thinking, “Fine, it’s a budget suite.”
But when guest safety is compromised, and staff show zero accountability, that’s where the line is crossed.
Had the hotel shown even a basic sense of responsibility, I wouldn’t be writing this review.
But they didn’t.
Instead, they chose to shrug off the harassment and failed to protect their guests.
