Terrible Stay......Exorbitant Pricing.....Not Value for money....
I booked this hotel by the looks in the pics on the MMT site. But later found that those were photoshopped. The background is completely different. It almost resembles a slum area. No cleanliness at all. The reception staff is not cooperative. No helping with baggages etc. Elevator is present but not functional. Difficult for old people. The rooms are smaller by standards. Linen provided was dirty. Only one blanket for a room of 2 adults and 2kids. Extra not provided even upon request. Toilets were old and dirty. Plumbing and other fittings were loose and not functional. No remote for Air conditioner. TV only tunes local language channels. Unsealed water bootle was provided which was replaced upon request. I booked two rooms and specially requested to provide those near by. But rooms were provided at two ends of the corridor. Hot water supply is intermittent. And it is just luke warm water. No proper car parking area. We need park cars outside the property gate at our own risk. And it is a risk as the locality is not confidence inspiring. No beaches of good eateries near by. it is the last building on the road leading. Not recommended for families. Individuals may try. Only good thing about the hotel is that there is room service. The kitchen staff is cooperative. Kid friendly meals are not there though. Food, though it is expensive and takes time to prepare, is tasty with less oil and spices. It looks hygienic also. But getting breakfast/morning tea might be an issue as it opens late. The check in/out times are a bit weird and difficult. No hot kettle or hot beverage making provision. Just soap is provided as toiletry. Considering that it is a three star hotel I expected more service. The pillow and bed was not comfortable. It is not close to any tourist attraction places too. So inshort money wasted. It was a terrible stay overall and not at all...
Read moreWhile Hotel Kalinga's proximity to the cricket stadium is undoubtedly convenient, my recent stay fell short of expectations in several areas.
Room: The room itself was just okay. It lacked certain basic amenities like a kettle or geyser for hot water, which felt like an inconvenient omission. Even essentials like toiletries were limited to just two bars of soap and two sachets of shampoo. The seal on the provided water bottle being broken raised hygiene concerns.
Cleanliness: While the washroom was reasonably clean, the overall room cleanliness was just passable. Some areas could have benefited from a more thorough cleaning.
Dining: All meals and even hot water had to be ordered from the restaurant, creating an unnecessary dependence on room service. This could be quite inconvenient for longer stays or late-night needs.
Positives: On the positive side, the location near the cricket stadium is advantageous for fans attending matches. Additionally, the washroom's cleanliness, though average, was a relief.
Overall: My stay at Hotel Kalinga was a mixed bag. While the location and washroom hygiene were positives, the lack of basic amenities, questionable water bottle, and reliance on room service for everything pulled the experience down. For its price point, I think some improvements in these areas would be necessary to truly recommend it.
Here are some specific suggestions for improvement:
Provide basic amenities like a kettle, geyser, and essential toiletries like toothpaste and shower gel. Ensure proper sealing of water bottles. Offer bottled water at check-in or keep a water dispenser accessible to guests. Consider offering limited hot water options in the room, like an immersion rod for the bucket. Explore options for self-service tea and coffee facilities. By addressing these points, Hotel Kalinga could provide a more comfortable and convenient experience for guests like myself.
I hope this...
Read moreThis is not a hotel — it’s a scam disguised as one.
The photographs shown on Goibibo and MakeMyTrip are completely fake — they don’t reflect the real condition of this place at all. The rooms are cramped, filthy, and reek of dampness. The entire corridor smells like a mix of urinals and neglect.
There’s no parking space, the room phone doesn’t work, no doorbell, and the TV is dead. As soon as you enter, a foul smell welcomes you, and the moment you open the washroom door, you’ll want to run right back out — it’s nauseating.
No one bothers to clean either the room or the washroom. Spider webs hang proudly, and there’s thick dust on the almirahs. The so-called restaurant is just as bad — the tables are sticky, chairs are stained, and the cushions are in a sorry state.
They even serve water in reused bottles with broken seals when you ask for mineral water. The washroom has no exhaust fan, the toilet windows are caked with years of dirt, and the room windows haven’t been cleaned in ages.
Despite all this, the hotel shows prices in the ₹4,000–₹5,000 range — it’s not even worth one-fifth of that!
I was scammed into booking this through Amazon, which has seriously eroded my trust in them. How Amazon can partner with such hotels is beyond me. My trust in Amazon has taken a serious hit, and I won’t be booking any hotels through them again.
Beware — the videos and photos online are misleading.
The staff’s passive-aggressive behaviour adds insult to injury. Only one towel was provided for two guests, and the attendant acted irritated when asked for another. There’s no kettle or complimentary tea, which any decent hotel provides as a basic courtesy.
Google should allow 0 or negative star ratings for such...
