I am going to clear some points about Kakara Beach Homestay that the management of the property may FORGET to tell you.
I had a stay in that homestay for 3 days. We booked 2 rooms A204,A205. While booking, they showed us in a video, two rooms as one unit with a fridge and water filter in common area. But after check in, we found out that the main door of the common area can't be locked and their staffs can use the common space any time. The almirah in the common space is also locked and that is not included.
Now the point is if both rooms are separate, then room A204 does not have a single glass to drink water. No table to eat food. Room A205 does not have any almirah. And very small. Also they said they can provide one towel per room as that is a homestay.
The video provided by them, showed utensils in the kitchen, so I thought that is included in the tariff. But after giving the advance, we came to know that is chargeable. When we complained about the same, owner came and wanted to refund ( we didn't ask for it) and help us in finding other hotel. But that was the day of Diwali and we were traveling with my 1 year old. It was difficult to find a hotel which matches our criteria at that short time. Which is why I booked well in advance, after searching a lot in the internet. Otherwise who comes to stay at CT road leaving main puri Beach far.
So I feel Giving a refund is not at all a compensation of giving half information before booking.
Talking about the rooms, they are average holiday home like. The property has no lift and it's 2nd floor.
Beach is very near to the property. And also they allowed us 4 hours early check-in for Rs 500, which they claim as a favor as they said, they made their previous guest to check out early and stay at another hotel for Rs 500.
Many may tell you that their staffs are very friendly. But when conflict happens then they show the real face.
P.S. kitchen utensils Rs 250 per day and if you want to use mixer grinder, Rs 80...
Read moreRight from the first call till the last bye, the hosts were just awesome, be it Somaji, Shrikanth or Raja, all are very kind and helpful. Rooms and amenities are really good, however the nature of the hosts and hospitality stands out here. We were 3 friends who shared the room (AC, TV, fridge, no lift) and we were very happy with the arrangements, cleanliness(bathroom with gyser), kitchen(with gas) and ameneities are awesome. The host guided us on how to go about the temple visit and plan our stay and arrangedged our travel(Cab).
The location is perfect, peaceful and laid back, many restaurants around, just a 2 mins walk to the beach and an auto ride to the temple, the service was impressive, anything you need is just a call away.
On our exit, Shrikanth made an effort to meet us, something that not many hosts would do.
Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family for a Puri trip. Kakara Home Stay, keep it up!! Wish you all the very best, God...
Read moreMy family and I just traveled to Puri, where we made bookings for this homestay. The terrace and balcony offered a stunning view. The restroom, tiny kitchen, and room were all satisfactory. The host was amiable and helpful. It was close to the beach and Jagannath Temple is 8-10 mins away (via Auto). I must recommend a few things that the host can do: a) Keep a few more culinary items in kitchen. b) Although we had to pay for drinking water, which I believe was unnecessary given that drinking water is a requirement, I have stayed in other homestays where no one charged for it. Additionally, make sure to specify on your profile that the drinking water supplies is subject to charge. c) A wardrobe or almirah would have been great. Racks to store clothing or bags are necessary when traveling in a group. Overall, the stay was pleasant. This is the place to go if you're looking for a good location to stay...
