Hotel Sikkim Delight — Hotel in Sikkim

When I stayed at this hotel five and half years back it was operated by Mango group and my stay was delightful because of the service and room condition. So, this time when I get one day window to stay at Gangtok, I choose to stay at the same hotel. Although, I knew the hotel management as well as the owner had changed, I expected to have similar experience as earlier. But to my surprise that didn't happen and it is my utter disappointment to say that the hotel service is not the same as it was five years back. This time, I was received by Mr. Ayan Das (Manager, as he claimed to be) at the front desk and the receiving experience was not very pleasant. I told him that I came to the hotel again out of my curiosity as to how things had changed in the last five years and also how I was driven by few nostalgic memories attached to this. But I think Mr. Das was not very keen to understand that. I was told that if I write a good review about the hotel, he may upgrade my room and with that I had to inform him that I would rather pay extra than write a fake review. Although, I have to mention that the remaining staff were very courteous and polite. What I felt after seeing the rooms was that there were no changes in decoration, not even an inch except a few dirty corners. This Hotel seems to be a unprofessional hotel, My friend recently book this hotel for 2 nights for 4 guests, for the month of October after Pooja festival. while booking from AGODA the hotel clearly said that the the standard rooms but when My friend inquired with the hotel Ms Nima, who claimed to be the manager ssaid that since it is a promotional price from Agoda we cant provide rooms with the Mountain View. this shows that how hotels in this tourist spot run as per their wish and season. initially we were supposed to book more rooms with this hotel but now we are cancelling the site Agoda also stopped responding when a clarification asked. Anyways this was out duty to bring truth to the community so that the tourist community can make clarifications well in advance with hotel and the Hotel cant take advantage of the situation. As i was going thru the different photos of the hotel,I found that the hotel was run before by Mango Hotel and before that it was some other Hotel. We stayed In Hotel Sikkim Delight for 2 nights. The rooms were booked by our tour agency. The rooms were pretty spacious and toilet was kept neat and tidy for the price. Hot water was available round the clock as well. We reached pretty late on day 1 for the dinner and hence it was served in our room. Dinner buffet spread was pretty generous. The breakfast was decent as well.

However during the breakfast on the day of our checkout, we found fungus in the bread that was served to us. Even though it might have missed the inspection by the chef by mistake, it played a spoilsport in otherwise memorable stay.
