We booked two Family suites with balcony for 19thOctober 2021 through booking.com. After making us wait for about 2hrs to check us into the room, we were in for a rude shock. The room was in an unclean and unacceptable state. There were huge cobwebs over the fan on the ceiling. The walls were dirty and stained - both in the main area as well as in the balcony. There were chocolate/chips wrappers under the bed. The toilet was disgusting and stinking. We immediately called the receptionist/manager and showed this to them - they made some lame excuses and started cleaning the floor. The cobwebs and wall stains obviously could not be cleaned while we were in there. It looked like the room was not even cleaned after the previous occupants left it and only the bed was made. We came to the hotel with huge expectations after seeing the images online, but it was in a sorry state in reality. The maintenance of the hotel is poor. In fact, the rooms themselves look old and dark and nothing like what they have shown online. After travelling for many hours to reach Gangtok, we could not stay at such a dirty place and we decided to move to another hotel. When we spoke to the receptionist Shraddha about our complaints and getting a refund as we did not even stay in the room for 5minutes, she made us wait for another 2hours and did absolutely nothing about the matter. She refused to take responsibility and said that she would need a mail from booking.com to give us a refund. We spoke with booking.com, who in turn sent a mail to Mount Himalayan Hotel asking them to give us a free cancellation. Despite receiving the mail from booking.com she refused to give us a refund and just kept us waiting for nothing, saying that she is looking up something. This is unacceptable behavior considering that they charged 13k+ per room and this is the kind of room and service we get. I do not want to even give 1star to this hotel. Finally, after losing a total of 28k for 2 rooms, we moved to another hotel. I am truly disappointed with this hotel, their maintenance and also...
Read moreThis was our very first visit to Gangtok and we were pretty excited. As we were 4 adults we decided to book a family room which had an extra double bed in the loft area. The checkin was quite smooth and quick. For the entire big room they had the provision to give one heater on chargeable basis. However as the temperature was dropping it was difficult to sleep in the loft as the heater was too small for such an big room. We asked Front desk for change in room and they said they are fully booked and couldn't even provide an extra heater as it would not be able to take the load. Feroz at front desk was very polite and helpful and provided us with some extra blankets and we managed the night. The next morning we showed a gap in the glass window and told they need to rectify it as it makes it extremely difficult to stay warm in the room despite using a room heater. The lady from front desk( I don't remember her name), she checked all the family room and said the gap is there in all glass window and might be an engineering fault which she said she will inform the concerned team. We booked another single deluxe room just for sleeping purpose. The food service staff were extremely friendly and very helpful starting from Sudarshanji, Sonam ( vibrant and always smiling), Viraj( right there when you need him always), Siddharth. They make a very good team and understand customer request. Room were spacious too and the view was breathtaking. Food was good but improvement can be done. Fish finger was the most delicious dish we tried among others. The overall...
Read moreWe booked a Family Room for December 23, 2024, directly through their website. Upon checking in, we were met with a rude shock. The room was in an unclean and unacceptable state, located near the road with a strong, pungent diesel smell. We requested a different room, only to face yet another disappointment. The walls of the new room were dirty and stained, and the toilet was disgusting and foul-smelling.
We immediately called the receptionist/manager to show them the condition of the room, but they offered only lame excuses. It was evident that the room had not been properly cleaned after the previous occupants, apart from the bed being made.
We had high expectations after seeing the pictures online, but the reality was far from it. The hotel's maintenance is appalling, and the rooms themselves look old, dark, and nothing like what is advertised.
After traveling for hours to reach Gangtok, we simply could not stay in such a filthy place. We decided to leave and book another hotel. Despite being charged over ₹13,000 per room, this was the standard of service and accommodation provided. I wouldn't even give this hotel one star.
Ultimately, we lost a total of ₹14,000 and had to find alternative accommodation. This experience was extremely disappointing, both in terms of the hotel's maintenance and the...
