Retreat Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Sikkim

If your day is really bad, then probably this hotel is in your luck in Gangtok ( sorry it's chandmari not gangtok ).

Location: This hotel situated in approximately 5 kilometres away from MG Marg and you have to cross a hell&heaven path to reach there. Also the frequency of taxis from MG Marg to hotel is very low.

Amenities & hospitality: Very bad. First of all they don't have cooks in hotel. Also room service is equally bad for lack of staffs. You have to wait almost 1.5-2 hrs after placing cooking order. They have a kitchen but no staff at all. The price of food is huge there compared to quality and quantity. One plate egg curry will cost you around Rs. 140. But I am not satisfied with the quality. 3.Apart of that, the behavior of manage (Mr. Biswas) is also bad. As there is a kitchen, I told him for food at 9.00 pm but he straightaway told me that no food would be available that time. After a long conversation, he finally made food for us. Quality of deluxe rooms are good. We booked deluxe rooms for mountain view. We are okay with the view. No spa facility is available.

Why we booked this: We been there into its subsidiary hotel in Darjeeling, Hotel Dezong Retreat . Belive me, we got everything good there. The behavior ( which I prefer the most) , food, room service and hospitality. Thatswhy I thought , it will be applicable here. But really it's an another experience. We stayed at hotel retreat and Spa during the end of March of 2021.I must say our stay in the hotel was not satisfactory. Firstly, the hotel was located very far away from MG MARG.Moreover, the availability of taxi from the hotel to mg marg was not frequent .The conditions of the rooms were not price worthy. The rooms were very clumsy and not spacious. Only two rooms were bit comfortable. The carpets in the room were dirty and torn in several parts. The floor mats were also unclean.even the bathroom were shabby and bit smelly. The service of the staffs were very poor. No one used to answer the calls in the reception. The glass given in the room were broken. Even the bucket in the bathroom was also broken. The car booked by the hotel was very ordinary where they promised us to give a luxurious car..But the view from the hotel was good. The food ...

We were travelling from Rishikesh and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Our super deluxe room was lovely with a gorgeous view. We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks and I want to give my heartfelt thanks to Anupam dada, dichi, and Subhash for the lovely food. During my out of gangtok trip my mum and kid were taken care of by Anupam Dada which is why I am writing this review. We felt like home and were made comfortable. I liked this hotel as it was away from the city and quietly tucked in the mountains. To be honest, I found the new manager after Anupam dada, rude and unhelpful and I would only come back and stay if all the old staff...
