Unethical Pricing Practice ā Extremely Disappointed
I had booked rooms at Bell Hotel and paid an advance to confirm my reservation. Shockingly, after the payment, the hotel increased the room rates and demanded I pay the higher price to keep my booking. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Once a booking is confirmed and advance is taken, the price should be honored.
This kind of bait-and-switch tactic not only reflects poor business ethics but also causes unnecessary stress and inconvenience to guests. I urge future travelers to be cautious while booking here ā your confirmed rate may not be respected. Totally disappointed with the lack of transparency and integrity. I strongly urge anyone considering a stay here to think twice ā your booking may not be safe, even after payment.
Totally unacceptable. I will be pursuing this further with consumer protection authorities.
Update: (03/06/2025)
I appreciate your prompt reply and the strong words about transparency and honoring confirmed bookings. However, I visited in person after your response, expecting resolution based on your own stated policy ā that bookings made before a tariff revision would be honored at the original rate.
Unfortunately, this was not the case. Despite showing proof of my prior booking and payment, your staff insisted on charging the revised, higher tariff. This directly contradicts your official response and clearly shows that your assurances are not upheld in practice.
This is not a communication issue ā it's a policy enforcement failure. It's extremely disappointing to see a business publicly claim integrity and transparency, then act in complete violation of those principles when dealing with actual guests.
Your reply was nothing more than damage control. The reality is: your staff refused to honor a confirmed rate, even after I brought your response to their attention.
I will now be escalating this matter to consumer protection authorities, as this constitutes a clear case of unethical business practice. I also encourage potential guests to be very cautious ā a confirmed booking and payment are apparently not enough to secure your reservation at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, in the standard double room with single occupancy. Price was reasonable at Rs.1700 + GST, with 24 hours checkout. The maximum price is Rs.4500 + GST for a Suite. ||||This is a 15 year hotel. It has no Star rating. At best it is a comfort hotel. But it has been probably been renovated and doesn't look more than 5 years old. It has an elegant lobby and so is the room. The room is huge, spacious, comfortable and quite well maintained. The A/c is prehistoric and cooling is not much. Fan was making a sound, so I did not use it. There is a separate curtained area with a writing table. There are 2 shelves provided to keep the suitcase, as well as a big cupboard. Airtel DTH and a Samsung LED TV makes the TV viewing pleasurable. A full length mirror and good lighting are further plus points. The bathroom is elegant again, with a glass partitioned cubicule for bathing. There was no hot water. But there was a twin dispenser for liquid bath soap and head shampoo in the bath area. ||||Room service is very quick. The Lobby managers and staff are polite. The one negative point is the house keeping. Vessels kept outside the room are cleared after several hours. Drinking water has to be asked for. The soap dispenser near the washbasin was empty. The house keeping had neglected to check it. I had to ask for the refill. ||||They have an elegant A/c restaurant as well as a huge open air restaurant with a roof. Food variety is huge. But taste is at best average. Service is slow. The complimentary breakfast has very limited variety. Since the juice is outsourced, they keep it in the kitchen. For each glass, we have to request the waiter. Similarly for Tea and Coffee. For dinner, I had a unique item, which I have not eaten before - Mutton Burger Dosa. It was a double thick cutlet of finely minced chicken, in the shape of an English Pastry. On top of that was an uttapa of about 2 inch diameter. Tasty, but expensive at Rs.140. They also serve Dosa varieties, Idli, Shawarma, etc. There is a separate counter for Aapam and Panniaram.||||This is the only place to stay in, in Sivakasi. And it is booked fully all round the year. Ā Ā Ā Read moreSivakasi is not a very big city and there are not much of hotels there. At the time of booking this hotel I expected average service. However the stay was quite comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom toiletries such as dental kit, shaving kit, hair oil etc were replenished everyday. The hotel also has a swimming pool which is quite big. However one has to pass through the restaurant kitchen to reach the swimming pool and the pool is open for the general public as well. This makes it a little inconvenient to go for the swim. During my stay training classes were going on for kids due to which it was crowded. ||||The restaurant has a good variety. Though breakfast was complimentary there was no buffet. South Indian dishes and bread/egg items are available on unlimited basis as ala carte. There is no north Indian dishes like Paratha etc available as part of complimentary breakfast.||||The hotel is adjacent to a famous temple of Sivakasi and some rooms offer the temple view which is quite good especially in the early...
