This hotel is spread over acres but very poorly managed. It has many cottages at far places from the reception area and there is no cart or buggy to reach to the cottage. One has to walk down a long to reach their cottage. At the time of booking such info is not provided to the guests.
The Hotel has the restaurant but the taste of food is not so great. Even the service in the restaurant is of below standard. The restaurant manager is not able to manage even 20-30 guests.
We stayed there for two nights and right from Check in to Check out, the experience was not pleasant.
The reception area is very chaotic and not managed well. The staff are not so welcoming. They don't have a sense of hospitality culture.
The cottage was very untidy and shoddy. No hot water provision in Wash Basin.
The service was very poor. A lot of to & fro follow ups needed with the housekeeping for electrical kettle fault. They have put a long list of Do's & Dont's as if one is here as a captive and not as a paid guest.
The location of this hotel is very conjusted. The entry is very difficult for vehicles, if two vehicles simultaneously entered the road.
They have installed the sanitizing station at the reception area with an empty bottle of sanitizer. Upon asking at the reception, the manager said 'post COVID we have stopped this facility'. I mean is this a facility or the basic hygiene needed! Quite awkward.
They do not maintain the audit trail of payment made in the restaurant and insist for double billing at the time of check out. So, please while visiting this hotel, keep the record of all bills and credit card payment slips with yourself to prove that you have already made the payment. Even, they had attached some bills which were dated before my checknin date against my bill. And the other bill was of some other room which was attached with my room documents. Their approach is very casual.
We were in pain and hence we checked out from this hotel quite early for the next place as we did not want to further spoil our vacations.
They need to do a lot to sustain themselves in the hospitality industry.
This hotel does not have Wheelchair ♿ accessibility. They do not have elevator or ramp to support accessibility ♿🧑🦯. They do not have braille menu in the restaurant. A plenty of Parking 🅿️ space is inside the hotel premise.

Read moreLaview Hotel is an old property that has been renovated recently. Don't be fooled by the name. You don't have a view of the lake at all, not from any of the rooms. All the rooms are cottages, the suites without fireplaces and the villas with a small fireplace. Except for the fireplace the rooms are exactly the same and cost marginally different.
The cottages have a living room and a bedroom that's attached to a bathroom. The tiny fireplace is in the living room. Fire wood costs 250 for about an hour of fire. Even though it is small it has its charm. The living room does not have a kitchenette. There is a kettle and coffee and tea. The upholstery on the furniture is stained and a little dirty in both the rooms I've checked out. Otherwise the furniture is good and functional. There is no luggage rack so the diwan in the living room will have to hold your bags if you don't want to pick your clothes from a bag on the floor.
The bedroom is small. The cupboard is right behind the door to the room and can only be accessed when the bedroom door is closed. The bedding is new and clean and all the electrical switches are easily accessible.
The bathroom, though functional, has a slight odour constantly. It is best to leave the exhaust fan on at all times and leave the bathroom door closed. This was my experience with both the rooms I was in.
Since the rooms are conjoint cottages spread out over the property, there is a lot of walkways and roads. My cottage was accessible only after a small flight of stairs. Very scary and slanted stairs with no lights or rails. The roads and access stairs could do with more lighting.
The restaurant staff are courteous and eager to serve. However, the culture at the place is lacking enough that restaurant staff and manager talk loudly to each other about their business when guests are seated. I never had a chance to sample the food.
Overall Lakeview is just below a 3 star level in my books. I was glad the rooms were well appointed and relatively clean. There is ample parking and you can get parking just outside your cottage. The price may look cheap compared to other properties in Ooty, but remember, you are only getting what...
