Had a wonderful trip to Buranskhanda (Dhanaulti) recently. A trip made memorable largely due to the property we stayed in- Barefoot Bungalow in Buranskhanda. Before the gates open, its impossible to imagine what lies beyond. Once we entered we were so taken by the beauty and feel of the private lawns, we didn't enter the rooms for next couple of hours. We soaked and tanned in the mountain sun, soaking in further warmth of the awesome masala tea served, and even enjoyed the chill of cold breeze everytime sun hid behind the scattered clouds. We thought we had experienced the best already! But there is so much more that awaits you inside- the beautiful interiors that ooze comfortable luxury. ||Every single thing is so well thought of! Even before you enter there are dedicated chappals and washbasin to keep interiors clean and hygienic. Inside you have comforable sofas and dining area in the living room complete with a well stocked bar. The huge screen TV in living room with an inviting fireplace wants you to curl up on that sofa and surf mindlessly. Or just do nothing with a warm cup of coffee. And all this in month of June! ||There are three bedrooms with the luxury of heated beds. Two of three rooms have excellent views. There is ample storage in rooms. Sofa-beds are available for extra bedding. A total of 9 adults can stay comfortably in the Bungalow. Bathrooms come with luxury fittings and toiletries.||Bungalow also has a fully stocked kitchen and bar. Kitchen has a built in hob, oven and a microwave to make you feel at home. Though the excellent food dished by the restaurant-kitchen and the warm service would never want you to use the kitchen inside the bungalow. Food is made fresh to order by a super enthusiastic and talented team. Enjoy pahadi, Indian, Italian, Chinese and continental here. ||We absolutely love the glass house restaurant. It's warm, inviting, and the glass walls let's you be one with the nature outside. ||In addition, a good variety of books and boardgames, a karoke and music system, live music and barbecue on demand, bonfire to just warm around... the thoughtfulness in facilities continue to reflect in every single thing. ||If you ever feel like leaving the premises, go for long walks along the road. Drive down to Tehri lake which is couple of hours away for water sports (we enjoyed this bit the most), visit Surkunda devi temple & experience the ropeway, visit the nature eco park in Dhanaulti, even head back to main Mussoorie... options are multiple.||All in all, Barefoot is everything we could want for a wonderful break! Looking forward to now experience the Bungalow when it snows. Can only imagine the winter wonderland it must...

Read moreFirstly to begin with this was my first trip with family after 2 long years of strict refraining due to the covid scenario. Really hoping that it would go on to unwind my family. I was ecstatic only to reach and begin my 3 days of hilly rejuvenation.
Firstly dissapointed to see that the parking facility was quite limited to 2 cars and that too on a slope inclined at 30 degrees. The third car had to be parked on the road although just below the property gate. Visit g in March can have a toll on the aesthetic value to the property as the green cover was robbed from us owing to the constant snowing prior.
I had been very specific to ask if the weather would be conducive for a 7 month old baby to which I am sorry to say was mislead into believing that it would . Since the outside temperatures although a modest 11 degrees but inside the heating arrangement was disappointing in 2 of the three rooms. I had to personally be up all the night to switch on the heaters as the switchboard was not in the working condition and since the outside temperature was mere 1degree , heaters became a much necessity for my 7 month old baby. The much hyped fireplace could only do so much for about as long as the woods were aplenty.
The accomodation for my driver and maid was in a state such that I had to arrange my driver to stay in a nearby hotel and had to ask my maid to take one of the bathrooms inside the property. As they were appalling. I come from a background where I check my maids and drivers comfort ahead of ours. The rooms are also quite packed with barely admitting the third person. The tv didn't work. We finally decided to vacate the property after a mere 18 hours of stay as it was not what we had in mind. (We had booked the place for 3 days with 100%advance paid already) haven't recieved nor did I ask for a refund.
The staff on the property was of utmost help and respectful to our needs. Very soft spoken. I wouldn't have to gone to this length to pen my experience unless I would have really been erred. I had taken a 10 hour long drive to arrive at one of the most uncomfortable experiences . The owner of the property although was very courteous. Had also arranged a surprise decoration with cake. But in the end it was the lack of basic amenities which had us pack...
