Ivy Bank — Hotel in Uttarakhand

Am glad I chose Ivy Bank as the place to spend a long weekend, over some other choices. It had everything we would normally want for not just a comfortable stay, but a place we could relax in, snuggle down for a family game of cards, etc. whether in the spacious outer rooms (we had 2 rooms), with windows open to let in the rainy breeze and mist rolling in, or to just sit out on the spacious lawn outside the rooms, with a cup of tea. I would say this is really Ivy Banks best feature..the lawn from where, in one sweep we could take in the views of higher reaches of Landour with the old colonial houses, and at the same time gaze over the distant Mussoorie town, lying below close by, the mist laden hills and valleys around, and Dehradoon below. |The staff (Deepak, Rahul, Balwant, et al) ...they were great too...pleasant and willing to serve up anything we needed. Simple great food...great service. |However, make no mistake..this is not really a hotel, so don't look for star rated facilities or luxury. It's a simple place with ample space and clean beds, with an outer room (as i mentioned earlier). |It's a little walk away from Char Dukan and Sister's Bazaar, which is where everyone heads to in Landour. Some may crib about the steep walk up to these iconic places from Ivy Bank, but i think, that's the whole point of being in a place like Landour. Enjoy the place and make that effort. I booked the room at this place and sent 500/- in advance for the booking. Firstly, they took 2 days to just confirm whether they received the money. I mean how hard is it, there's SMS service that every bank provides, but still they continued to waste my time. Finally when it was confirmed that they've received the money, by that time my plan got cancelled and I informed them to cancel my booking as IT WAS STILL MORE THAN 7 DAYS TILL MY BOOKING DATE. They said they'll refund the money back. It's been 2 weeks already, there's no follow up, nobody replying to my messages either. I'd agree it's just 500/-, but why give false promises if you can't deliver it. Then the guy who i was dealing with snapped at me by saying he's not well and in the hospital from past 3 days and its only 500/-. I mean how would i know that you're in hospital, you don't even have the courtesy to reply to messages, simply ignoring. At the end I'll have to leave it, but anyway they won't be able to make Taj Mahal out of that money either, neither the place deserves that. If their staff is irresponsible and giving false promises to people then ending up keeping their money, i can only imagine how would their service be when you stay there. I'm glad I didn't. Overpriced place, dirty bathrooms if you see their recent pictures (not from google). I considered staying at this place, but staff here doesn't want people to come back to...

Located on the perfect location between Lal Tibba Mor and Char Dukan giving you the view of Doma's Inn and the Landour mountains. They have 3 different types of rooms with them. One being the standard room which is quite good and spacious. Then comes the basic two level cottage and at last the deluxe cottage with balcony and sunset view. During our stay, the staff made sure that we are comfortable and were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was sumptuous and gives you the homely feel even when you are away from your home. If you like peace and calm mountain views this is the best place to stay in Landour with the best food and the best staff.
