The resort is situated in South Dhupjora and is approx. 10 kms from Lataguri and the nearest railway station is New Mal Junction which is about ½ to 40 mins from the resort by car. We had booked one cottage and the package for 2 days ( deal through a tour operator) included bed tea, breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. We were picked up by a car which was arranged by the manager on our request and had to pay Rs.700 for the trip. Normally is costs about Rs.650 but it was a bit on the higher side due to the puja holiday rush. The resort has a mixture of cottages and rooms and a restaurant. We had booked a cottage which is sufficient for three adults and a child if one takes an extra cot (a foldable cot will be provided). The room which we were allotted had a geyser, TV with cable connection (limited channels), a wooden cupboard, a table and two chairs, window ac.The room had a common verandah at the back (There is a cottage adjacent with similar facilities to it so the space is common) with a view of a tea garden). There is ample space inside the resort to park cars if one takes their own transport. We were told that this was the best cottage in resort. In my view it was a myth as the room we were allotted, the geyser was not working when we wanted to freshen up after we checked in so we had to ask the staff to shift us to the adjacent cottage. We were four so it was logical to ask for extra towels as there were only two allotted. After a lot of reminders we were given one. The toiletries provided was one single small soap (Lifebuoy ā lucky we were carrying our own) and nothing else! The bathroom looked shabby (thank god the taps were working but leaking), linen was not changed the two days we were there, room and bathroom was cleaned only once during our stay. The entire resort lacked cleaning and the trees were not pruned. There was rubbish strewn everywhere (What an eyesore). Now coming to the staff and the food. The staff was nice in the sense their behaviour and cooperation but lacked proper professional training(Once saving grace in this place). These are boys just picked up from nearby villages and put into work with no supervision or training. The quality of food was more of the Bengali homely types and it was better than the place itself. But you wonāt get many varieties. Food was always served hot and freshly cooked. There is a small swing which was rusted, a small pond whose water had turned black and brackish with small fishes naturally not visible. The manager was an invisible person in the sense he was mostly never to be found in the resort as either he was at his home or in the market or had gone out for some work. So all your concerns and requirements have to be addressed to the staff who tried to help as much as possible. Never seen such a situation where the manager is not to be seen or bothered to resolve guestās needs. He was seen once roaming about in his trouser and a vest in front of the guests. What a sight! The entire surrounding area is very quiet, there are a lot trees around, a resort (Debjani I think, this looked more organised) on the opposite side of the road, dwellings of local villagers. A short walk from the resort will take you to the river Murti which a beautiful view of nature and the surroundings. One can just walk across as the water is very shallow and is bordered by nearby jungles. You will feel like going to this place repeatedly. One can hire a vehicle which the resort will arrange on request and go for a trip to Rocky Island, Santhalikhola, and Samsing from here which are not very far. We had gone for a Safari ride to Gorumara Wild Life Reserve Forest from the resort as a Gypsy had come to pick up and drop us (You will have to pay an extra for this service). The same vehicle will also take you for the Safari ride. ||To conclude the resort has little to offer for kids who want to play and enjoy though it calls itself a resort. The charges which were quite high were not in line with the facilities avaible as the place grossly lacks maintenance. I am not aware whether this resort has a good number of visitorās or demand compared to the others in the area. Thereās a lot of potential and the resort can be improved if the owner had wanted to and more involment of the manager. The staff tried to cover up the shortcomings by their efforts but it cannot go very far. A word of thanks to Ali (Staff), the chap was very cooperative and other staff too. Overall I would not suggest this place if one is looking for basic quality, cleanliness, sufficient and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI chose this resort for 1 day based on recommendation of my travel agent as I's not getting accommodation for all 4 days at WBFDC resort.||It's decent, economic resort. It might have been little better in the past when it's new. Now, it's not that well maintained. However, rooms are clean. Service is good and food is decent. River Murti is just 5-min-walk away.||I took the car from here for all 4 days - the drivers was good and so was his behavior. Also, the manager will help you with safari if you need to book it from there. But if you have car with you, you may as well take the safari gypsy from Lataguri - it'll help saving few bucks [it's suggested by the manager and I...
