We (my family) planned a short trip to Shantiniketan along with a family friend on 29th and 30th of December,2018. Once I Searched hotels online and came to know about 'Mayas'. They had rooms, so immediately I paid advance to their bank account and booked two super delux rooms. We had been told that it was peak time, so we need to book rooms with foods (breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snacks) as a package. We accepted their offer and immediately confirmed our booking. Once we reached the hotel at around 1pm on 29th December (check in time: 12 o'clock), we found one of our room was not ready and they took further time to prepare the same. Once they handed over the rooms to us we realized that they had not given towel and there was no bucket and mug in the wash room. Once we requested for the same the manager said they do not provide bucket and mug in wash room and arranging of towel will take some time. We waited patiently and tried to communicate with the manager as we were getting delayed. Once we tried to communicate through the intercom we found that it was not working! Finally at around 2.30pm, we called the owner of the hotel as fortunately I had his number and told him that I would pay the price of a bucket and towel if it was not available in his hotel but to kindly arrange the same as it was getting delayed for our kids to take bath. He immediately talked to the staffs and arranged the towel. But to our surprise we found that the geyser was not working. Just imagine! on 29th December, in a cold place like Bolpur we need to take bath in cold water. They provided chicken pakora as evening snacks. The evening snacks were served in room but to arrange tissue papers we need to call them several times. Normally in any hotels who are charging more than 6000.00 per room (tax extra) including foods, buffet is expected in lunch, dinner and breakfast. But here, nothing like that. The roti they served was absolutely cold and hard. We could not able to have our dinner properly. Next day morning inspite of repeated request to them they served the morning tea at 930am in paper cups! Can you believe that in a hotel who is charging hefty, the morning tea was being served in paper cups at 930 am. the service boy told they dont have so many cups to serve morning tea in each rooms. In morning once we requested for an extra tea bag and sugar sachet, they replied that they would not provide extra sugar or tea bags. I have never ever heard this kind of reply from any hotel in my life time. It was very cold in the morning but we could not able to take bath as geyser was not working. Finally we need to take bath in chilled water. We were late for braekfast. We reached 1030 am in their restaurant and finished the breakfast. The so called manager came to us and reminded us taht it was 10.50am and we need to vacate our rooms immediately as our check out time is 11.00 am. Once we asked that where was he when we were continuously requested them to arrange morning tea or hot water in the morning. He started arguing with us and told that he could not do anything if geyser is not working. The so called manager got furious on us and once I tried to talk to the owner, he claimed himself as the 'top management' and told us that everything needs to be communicated to him only, no one else. Once this argument was going on with the honorable 'Top Management', we found that one of the assistant ( Prabir Ghosh ) of honorable 'top management' was filming video secretly. Once we raised our voice against that person they deleted the video but continued their argument of justifying not providing hot water, bucket, mug, sugar, tea bags, intercom everything....The name of that honorable 'Top Management' is Mr. Joy Sarkar. Never seen such a rude manager ever in a service industry like hotel. We immediately checked out from the hotel without even having our lunch for which already we had paid as a package as we were not feeling to have our lunch at...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of staying at Mayas Shantiniketan Resort not just once, but twice, and each time has been a delightful experience. The resort's location, though slightly tucked away, offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful getaway. If you have your own vehicle, reaching the resort is hassle-free, but the limited parking space is the only drawback I encountered during my visits, which prompted the deduction of one star.
The ambiance of Mayas Shantiniketan Resort is truly remarkable. The moment you step into the resort, you are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for a relaxing stay. The boutique hotel concept ensures that each room has its unique charm, providing guests with a refreshing change from cookie-cutter accommodations.
During my first visit, I stayed in the super deluxe suite room, known as the Antique Room. While the bed was slightly squeaky, the overall experience was fantastic. The room boasted a beautiful view from the balcony, allowing me to immerse myself in the natural surroundings. The spaciousness of the room, coupled with a clean and well-appointed bathroom, made my stay all the more comfortable. The rustic charm of the wooden furniture and the beautiful wardrobe added to the overall appeal.
On my second visit, I opted for the deluxe room on the top floor. The highlight of this room was the direct access to the terrace, which provided a delightful spot to enjoy breakfast with my partner, basking in the warm morning sun. The room itself was tastefully decorated, and the amenities provided were more than satisfactory.
One aspect that I particularly enjoyed during both stays was the food package offered by the resort. The meals provided were delicious, with generous portions. I appreciated the flexibility to customize my meals to suit my preferences. The resort's culinary offerings were definitely a highlight of my experience.
Mayas Shantiniketan Resort boasts a great pool that offered a refreshing respite during my December visit. My friends and I had the pleasure of enjoying a BBQ session poolside while taking a dip in the chilly water. The combination of good company, delicious food, and a picturesque setting made it an unforgettable experience.
The staff at the resort provided excellent room service and displayed genuine warmth and hospitality. Their attentiveness added to the overall appeal of the resort and made me want to return time and again.
In conclusion, Mayas Shantiniketan Resort is a haven for those seeking a quiet and peaceful retreat. While the parking facility falls short in terms of space, the ambiance, well-appointed rooms, delicious food, and excellent service more than make up for it. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a memorable and rejuvenating experience amidst...
Read moreAverage stay We stayed end of October 2021 , family group of 8.
Pros: Location is good. Not very far from attractions but in a serene place near to paddy fields. Swimming pool is maintained properly and decently sized. Open dining area near rooms is a good dining spot to have family time under the sky. Veg food was good.
Cons- Pathetic person at the reception. Single handedly made sure our experience is poor. Avoid 301 and 101 series rooms as issue with electricity. No ac and fan for whole night. No attendant is available after 10 pm. Everyone leaves for their home. Security guard is only person in the property. After an hour of hassle at 3 am, 1 room was provided. The rooms are suffocating without ac and fan. Whole night's wasted trying to reach management. Generator backup is very poor and manual. Security guard forgot to switch on the generator as he is sleeping. Need to get down and wake him up everytime. Food in general is okay but we were provided stale chicken. Since the property is 70 percent empty on an average during weekdays, expect stale food. We had our food after hotel staff left the hotel at 11 pm. So no one was around to point out. As per the receptionist, security guard is responsible for everything after 11 PM. And ofcourse he is clueless. The receptionist is just a messenger. For every thing, he has to call someone on Kolkata to relay the message. Need to have atleast one caretaker in the night time. The rack rates are too high. No need to pay more than 1500-2000 for a room here. Not worth it. Although property is relatively new, the lack of maintenance means going to washroom is an uphill task. The water pressure is too low in super deluxe rooms. Toilet seats etc are broken in most of the rooms. we took the package with breakfast included. No tea/ coffee with breakfast. Only 1 option among puri/omlette/paratha is provided. The expectation is to have little more variety in breakfast and tea/ coffee freshly available. one hilarious thing I found here is they allow any non resident to use swimming pool for 300 bucks. Spoils the in house folks experience as gets too crowded. Even in the Covid times, getting too many outside people. We had to wait for a couple of hours to get rid of outside guests. This is some thing too cheap of the hotel.
Tip: Rooms are mostly empty, book online when you are about to reach. Same day online booking rates are about 1500-2000 which is maximum one should pay for this level of service. Even though the hotel is empty, dont expect them to upgrade your stay as the hospitality is not what they cater to here. The rudeness and arrogance of the receptionist is awkward to see in this sector. 2 star for pool and...
