Raktokorobi Karugram — Hotel in West Bengal

This review is going to be a long one, apologies in advance. My sister and I stayed here for one night during weekend. ||First the good part: It is a nice property away from noise and dust of the town. There are a lot of trees, a pond and nice walking path on the property. The grounds are very well maintained. The food is excellent and service staff very attentive. We stayed in one of the rooms in the white three-story building. The building is new and clean. Our room was quite large with attached balcony and bathroom. Bathroom was clean (I am very particular about cleanliness of the bathrooms). Furniture was nice and more than enough for a short stay. Balcony had a nice view of the garden. ||||Now not so good part: The bed sheets appeared not have been washed. There were some dirt marks on them and on the pillowcase. Now you might ask did we bring this to the attention of the staff at the time. We did not. You will see the reason on the next paragraph. ||||We were given the local manager's contact number by the sales agent in Kolkata. The manager's name is Pradip. We gave my sister's phone number as contact number. The manager contacted us about our arrival time and lunch order. He also gave us a contact number for a Toto-guy. So far so good. We arrived Sat afternoon and checked in. The manger kept our ID cards for some reason. Usually hotels take a copy of the ID and gives it back. Anyway I did not think much of it at the time. We were shown to our room. In the afternoon we went to the Khoai Haat. While we were shopping we ran into the same manager, we said hi. He gave us our ID cards back, he had them in his shirt pocket. Again, bizarre to say the least. Gave me an uneasy feeling. After dinner we wanted to go for a walk around the garden. It was very dark and we were not sure if it was safe. My sister asked the manager via text if it was ok for us to go for a walk at late evening. We did not hear back from him till midnight. That is where it started to get very uncomfortable. He texted my sister (I was asleep by this time) that he is waiting outside for us for go for a walk with him. Yes, you read that right. Who does that? We never said that we would like to go for a walk with him. My sister replied that we are in for the night. He kept calling and texting her repeatedly. We were afraid as the property is in middle of nowhere and we did not know how far he will go. The next morning, we had breakfast, and walked around the property. He was at the front office and pretended all is normal. We checked out at 12pm, and went about our day. He kept texting my sister about how much he likes body massage and other vulgar things. He is so dumb that he sent all of these via texts. So we do have written proof that this happened. We have informed the Kolkata booking agent about this and sent him (his name is Kedar I believe) a copy of the texts. He (Kedar) apologized, but we don't know if any action will be taken.||||So long story short, we will not be revisiting. I am not going to tell others what to do, but if you are a young woman travelling with other women or solo avoid this place. It made us feel extremely unsafe, and that is the last thing you want when you are trying to have a nice...

Everything you touch or see can be a lizard poop. It's everywhere. False ceiling of cottages are full of living and dead lizards. Rooms is main building are better but they are small and their ceiling is very low that might feel clostrophobic. Cottage rooms are very dark and hardy any light enters there due to their surroundings. People who can't see a glimpse of green and live in concrete world might like this place but not someone who lived their fair share of life in greenery. No Google reviews stands true. I booked this resort knowing that it is situated 8 km away from Bolpur after going through google reviews but I regretted it. Please read TripAdvisor reviews. Those were genuinely mentioned. Cleanliness rating is big zero here. No hygiene is maintained whatsoever. You don't have anything to do after 6 pm. This resort is dead at night. No music playing even during puja holidays. No festive lighting. Even the lighting during night time are very less. Forget about going out during this time as there are plenty of insects and mosquito swarming this place. You need to turn off the light of bathroom otherwise there will be insect party there. There were one cook and two service boys. They are trying their best to accommodate all guests but even they are humans. Their behavior was very cordial. Full respect for them.

Food quality was average. Hotel beleieves it's the best but actually it's not. Food is average not bad. Some items are good and some are not good.

There is lack of consistency in food preparation. Fish finger made on first evening was good but on the next evening it was raw inside. No intercom. You need to. Manually dial phone to place food orders. Room service was slow when there are 2-3 families occupied. The worst thing about this place is the laid back attitude by the manager and probably by the owner. They build this property long ago but hardly maintaining it. No proper cleaning during stays.
