The Grace — Hotel in West Bengal

Let me start by saying I’m not a big fan of Oyo, it lacks two integral features - accountability and control. But, due to an unavoidable situation, I had to stay at The Grace, Kolkata (one of Oyo’s high end properties). ||I booked two “Deluxe (3X)” rooms. 3X means rooms of size which have the capacity to accommodate 3 Pax each (i.e. bigger rooms). Booking ID - DSHP5493||I was taken to the rooms 308 & 306 & I was shocked to see the size of 306, which wasn’t even half the size of 308. It was too small even for a single person. ||Hotel receptionist refused to help, blaming it on OYO. After speaking to Oyo, I was told I’ll get a call back from the senior team (Havn’t got that call till this moment).||The property GM whose argument was that both the rooms are of the same size, on seeing the rooms, the argument suddenly changed to -|1. Sir, but it’s for single person. |2. We don’t have availability.||Let me tell you, if I have paid for a bigger room (higher category) it doesn’t matter if it is for a single person. ||While the GM telling us that the hotel is sold out, we booked another room in the same category from the OYO app for the same night in front of him. (Booking ID- OKZE7549) So what should we conclude? |- The GM didn’t want to help?|- The OYO app takes bookings without checking availability?|- OYO has no control over its partner hotels?||After all of this, the GM along with an OYO representative (Zubair) had the audacity to tell me that the only solution is I pay more now and take a suite. (Why? I came to Kolkata for an official purpose and stayed in this hotel for two days, the place was clean with nice room and room service, good ambiance. Their restaurant is also good, they though have little items to choose from but know that whatever you eat will be tasty. Coming back to hotel, anyone planning to stay there please don't pay online, pay in cash but not online. I had to wait for an hour to before I could check in to my room because apparently this hotel comes under OYO partnership and are therefore not being paid timely by them. I had to suffer because of the issue between these two. Also, my husband was trying to connect me and since my phone was not reachable, he called the hotel and asked them to connect the phone to my room, to which the receptionist asked him to come and check in person, now com'on you don't talk to your customers like that. Even a small hotel these days have intercom facility but a hotel like this did not. These issues can be faced by anyone, a hotel's priority should be making sure that the guest is comfortable and served well where these people failed miserably.
