I stayed at Mewangi Hotel for one night last long weekend, and I honestly really, really enjoyed it. It’s a new hotel, only a few months old but you can already tell it has so much potential. I felt super comfortable and happy staying there. Here’s a little breakdown of my experience:
What I Loved:
The Location The hotel is located right in the heart of Bandung, which is super convenient. You’re close to everything: cool cafés, malls, and all the main attractions. Just a heads-up: if you’re coming on a weekend or during a long weekend, traffic around the area can get a bit crazy. But that’s pretty normal for central Bandung.
The Building & Vibe The design is beautiful. They did a great job blending modern style with a traditional touch, and it feels fresh and unique. I could tell they put a lot of thought into how the place looks and feels.
The Room I stayed in Room 205, and I was pleasantly surprised. Super sleek, clean, modern, and cozy. The smart TV worked great, AC was cold, and the hot water was perfect. It just felt nice being in that space.
The Staff One of the best parts of my stay. The staff were kind, professional, and most importantly, they felt human. Not overly formal or robotic, just genuine and helpful. That really made a difference.
What Could Be Better:
Soundproofing This was probably my biggest issue. My room was right next to the elevator, and I could hear people walking and talking in the hallway really clearly. The hotel itself is in a quiet area, but inside, it wasn’t as peaceful as I’d hoped. If you’re a light sleeper, I’d definitely recommend asking for a room at the end of the corridor, somewhere quieter.
Breakfast The breakfast was okay in terms of taste, but I wish there were more options. For a hotel in this category, I expected a bit more variety. Also, since Bandung is known for its traditional food, I think it’d be really nice if they added even just a few local dishes, nothing fancy, just something simple to give that local flavor.
Cleanliness in the Restaurant I did see a green fly land on one of the food trays during breakfast, which was honestly quite concerning. I told the staff right away and they handled it fast, so I really appreciate that. But still, it’s a health issue. They already have some fly-catching devices, but I hope they’ll step up the efforts so it doesn’t happen again.
Final Thoughts: Despite the minor downsides, I genuinely liked this hotel. I’ve already mentioned my feedback to the staff directly at checkout, so they’re aware. But overall, it’s a lovely place with great energy, and I can’t wait to see how they grow in the future.
Would I come...
Read moreI stayed for 3 nights on a work trip and found this hotel through a recommendation on Agoda. Honestly, it was a bit of a blind shot since there were still only a few reviews on Google, but I have to say, this hotel will definitely be my go-to from now on.
Everything about this hotel is squeaky clean, brightly lit, nicely scented, and very aesthetically pleasing. I could tell that every detail—from the furniture to the accents—was carefully chosen. I especially loved how they used different tiles to subtly separate areas in the room without heavy partitions or visual clutter. It all stayed consistent with their chosen color palette. The bathroom amenities were also a highlight: they featured floral scents like jasmine, which felt soothing and personal.
Since the hotel is still new, everything—shower, bed, sofa, table, cupboard, hair dryer, kettle, iron—is in excellent condition, which is a HUGE plus for me.
Room service was great as well: they cleaned thoroughly and delivered the requested item quickly. The staff was also very attentive during breakfast, proactively offering tea or coffee. I’m not a big breakfast person, so their food selection was more than enough for me.
I don’t usually write hotel reviews because most are just mediocre, nothing special (iykyk), but this boutique hotel truly deserves some kudos. Please keep up the great quality, I’ll definitely expect the same...
Read moreI experienced a scam while booking this hotel via a fake Instagram account that looked completely real — same name, more followers, more active than the actual one. Sadly, the hotel already knew about this scam, and even admitted that it has happened to others before… but they did nothing until I made a strong complaint.
After I spoke up, they apologized and offered to “discuss things in person at the hotel.” They verified their IG account only after I gave them that suggestion — which I appreciate, but again, came after I pushed for it.
No compliment. No relief or empathy. No special gesture, even though I flew in with 1 kid and 1 toddler and had to deal with the chaos. Just a generic apology from an Assistant Front Office staff. That’s all.
I was offered a room at “a discounted rate” because I got scammed. Turns out — it was the normal price all along. That part felt really disingenuous.
Honestly, it’s a shame. The hotel itself is beautiful, food’s decent, and the location’s nice. But when something goes wrong, you’ll be left alone. No real care, no urgency, no hospitality mindset from the management.
