Room is basic, but clean and has everything you need! The family was very welcoming. But then this all happened:
When we left, something happened that we didn't admired!! When paying the bill we were first shocked about the prices she asked for the food.. For some basic rice with curry she asked 125k per person.. which is high above the standard prices in Indonesia!
After we've payed we were waiting for the bus that she fixed for us 3 days ago. Seemed that the bus was fully booked and we had to wait for a shared taxi. But without complaining we went with the shared taxi. No comfort, but we took it the way it was. She promised us that the taxi would drop us off in front of our next stay. But in fact, he'd never agreed with this and dropped us 45 minutes walking from our next stay. When we were talking with the driver, we've also found out that we've paid more then he asks for. Which means that she took money from us. And that's what I really don't like!!
So we've contacted Mahoni guesthouse, the guy was shocked but in the end nothing happened. And the contact stopped..
So we've paid too much for food, walked 45 minutes uphill because of a lie and she took our money.. If she stayed honest with us, I would definitely recommend this place. But after this, I...
Read moreI'm in love with Flores, and Moni village is a really magic place. This was my second time in the island and in Mahoni guesthouse, and I'm really grateful for the kindness of this family that every time welcomes me. Galank, the owner, will do his best to make you feel happy and at home; he can drive you around the area and also organizes trips everywhere in Flores. I travelled in his safe car with a group of friends during 10 days discovering the beauties of this amazing island. Haja, his sister, is a lovely woman with a great heart: she will take care of you and will prepare really good breakfast. The whole family is fantastic. Rooms are really confortable, with private bathroom and hot water; nice garden in the front of the house for chilling. I would really recomend this place...if you want to get the good Flores vibes, just go there, be yourself, forget about complications and open your heart and your mind: you will discover a beautiful world, and you won't regret....
Read moreMahoni guest house has clean rooms with hot shower and really good breakfast with fresh fruit made by owners sister Haja. I travelled around Flores solo and was so lucky to find Mahoni guesthouse to stay. The owner Galank helped me get around by car or motorbike if the sights were nearby - it was extremely helpful as I dont drive myself. The best part about staying at Mahoni and hanging out with Galank was to be able to slow down and really enjoy leisurely life - one of the days after having visited Kelimutu I ended up doing nothing much, just reading in the hammock in the beautiful garden of the guesthouse and having lunch at the restaurant next door (which is really good and just few meters away from Mahoni guesthouse). The guesthouse house has calming atmosphere and Galank will do everything to make you feel at home as well as strike up a good conversation - would definitely recommend to stay here every time. Best wishes to...
