Read moreNot for the faint hearted ! Jungle lodge is beautiful & Very instagrammable. BUT … it is in the middle of the jungle, and the huts are not closed at all (no windows on the top and lots of cracks in the walls everywhere). So there are a LOT of insects around. We had musquito scent sticks on the terrace, but matches and the sticks were all wet, so couldn’t use them. The first morning we stayed here, my friend woke up with a rash all over here body. The sheets were very itchy. We think there must have been a caterpillar of some kind in the sheets, as she had a rash / no bites. Staff is friendly and replaced the sheets the next day. At night, there is big animals moving around on the wooden terrace, which makes the wood crack. I told myself it were possums or somethg cute (sounded quit big), but still hard to sleep with the noice, as it sounds like someone is sneaking around the house all night … I slept on the top bed / the mezzanine, which looks very cosy (and less moist then the bottom bed), but rats or mice run around in the rooftop at night, so also there … too much animals. I understand these huts are in the jungle, but they should be at least closed off, so insects and animals stay outside. That said - you can take beautiful insta-pictures here, so maybe you can sit through it for 1 night and move on to something nicer / less rainy / less moist / less itchy afterwards ;)? Also: the restaurant for breakfast is 1km walk uphill - which is not far, but its sooo steep that it feels like its 20 min 😂 (definitely without coffee ;)) There is no 4G here and only wifi in...
Read moreNo clue how the reviews are so high.
After seeing the pictures and getting a recommendation from one of the locals we decided to book this place.
I would recommend you NOT stay here and save your money. A lot of the things I list below I would not mind IF the price for the room was not so expensive compared to the rest of the island. Also please note if you come with a driver there is NO place for the driver to stay he would have to sleep in his car :(
The big appeal is the beautiful views of the mountains, which are amazing! But that’s about where it ends.
NO HOT WATER. Our room ended up not having hot water. They tried to fix it and managed to get a hot shower in but in the morning issue was back again so we couldn’t take a warm shower.
The whole construction is so shabby, the Doors don’t close properly, everything is quite sloppy
There is NO AC and NO FAN therefore the room gets quite hot and because of the mosquitoes you cannot open the doors. There’s no screens of course
There is lots more but I will leave it at that.
Look I understand what type of island Flores is, and normally I would not count some of these things against a place here; but for the amount they are charging $ you’re better off just visiting the RESTO which is quite great and just take in the...
